AWANA #2 - God is All-Powerful

Intro

Who is your favorite super hero? are they powerful? Yes they are, but they are not all-powerful, so they face hardship. However, Our God YHWH is omnipotent, meaning all-powerful. And today, we are going to learn about how God is omnipotent and how does Bible tell us about omnipotent God and how powerful he is.

Body#1

God is omnipotent.

God is omnipotent. The Bible shows that God is the one and only, true omnipotent God. In 1 Kings 18, the prophets of Baal prayed for fire to come down on their altar. They shouted and cried. Guess what happened? Nothing happened.

Then Elijah poured water on the altar that belonged to God. Can a wet wood burn? No. Yet Elijah prayed to the true God. Immediately God sent fire from heaven. The fire burned the offering, the wood, the stones, and even the water. This showed everyone that only our God is all-powerful, omnipotent.

Body#2

His Word is omnipotent.

God is omnipotent. And if someone is omnipotent, then He should have to create this whole universe, and our God, He did. He created the heavens and the earth. He is the Commander of the whole universe.

Have you ever seen a military commander give orders to soldiers? When the commander speaks, the soldiers listen and move together. They go where the commander tells them to go. Why do they do that? Because the commander has authority. Our God, His Word has that authority too to the whole universe.

The Bible says in Genesis 1:1 “In the beginning, God created the heavens and the earth.”

How did God create everything? With His Word.

Genesis 1:3 says “God said, Let there be light, and there was light.”

Genesis 1:6 says “God said, Let there be an expanse” and it happened. The waters were separated. The sky above and the earth below were made.

Why did everything happen? Because God said so. God is the most powerful Commander.

Our God, YHWH, created the whole universe with perfect power. Everything He made was very good. The earth is at the perfect distance from the sun. If it were only one percent closer, the earth would become too hot and we could not live here anymore. Yet God made everything with the perfect distance and the perfect design. That is why we are alive today. And this shows how much our God and His Words are omnipotent.

Body#3

Jesus is omnipotent.

This all-powerful God is our Savior. He sent His Son Jesus to us. Jesus raised the dead and healed the blind. Jesus is God and He is omnipotent too.

John 1:1 says “In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.”

The Word who made creation happen is Jesus. God and His Word together are all powerful. That is why the Bible has authority. When God speaks in the Bible, His Word moves hearts just like a commander moves his troops.

Conclusion/Application

We, who are in Christ, are omnipotent.

Here is the most amazing part. This all powerful God is with us. When we believe in Jesus, God gives us the Holy Spirit. The Holy Spirit has the same power as the Father and the Son. We live under God’s protection and God’s power every day.

The very last sentence of Book of Matthew says

“And behold, I am with you always, to the end of the age.”  Mt 28:20.

Jesus is with us always. And since he is omnipotent, that makes us omnipotent. We can live this world through his power.

In Acts 1:8 “But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you, and you will be my witnesses in Jerusalem and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the end of the earth.””

Jesus literally told us if the HS has come upon us, then we will receive power until the end of the earth.

So when we face fear, difficulty, or sadness, we do not need to give up. God gives us strength. God helps us overcome. God created everything just by speaking. So NOTHING is hard for Him. He is our Father. Our God is omnipotent.

Let’s Pray.

Heavenly Father,

You are Almighty, All-powerful, Omnipoent.

You created this whole universe with your Words. That is how you are powerful.

No others are like you. No one can even imitate you. Because you are omnipotent. You are our only powerful God.

And because of that, your Words are powerful. We all believe that God

With that faith, and with believing that your Word, Jesus Christ is our Savior, Please have the Holy Spirit be upon us, and with your power, let us live this world so that we can glorify you. Give us the strength and the power you showed to the Baal Prophets. Let us overcome all the hardships that we are facing through your powerful Words.

We believe that you God will work and lead our lives into the best of your eyes because you are the all-powerful creator of us and the whole universe.
