The Light of the World
The Light of the World
Matthew 5:15–17
15 Neither do men light a candle, and put it under a bushel, but on a candlestick; and it giveth light unto all that are in the house.
16 Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father which is in heaven.
17 Think not that I am come to destroy the law, or the prophets: I am not come to destroy, but to fulfil.
Jesus said He is the light of the world!
John 8:12 “12 Again Jesus spoke to them, saying, “I am the light of the world. Whoever follows me will not walk in darkness, but will have the light of life.””
John 1:1–7 “1 In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. 2 He was in the beginning with God. 3 All things were made through him, and without him was not any thing made that was made.
4 In him was life, and the life was the light of men. 5 The light shines in the darkness, and the darkness has not overcome it. 6 There was a man sent from God, whose name was John.
7 He came as a witness, to bear witness about the light, that all might believe through him.”
Jesus is the Light of the world!
If you believe on His name… which mean to confess Him as Lord!
Romans 10:9–10 “9 because, if you confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. 10 For with the heart one believes and is justified, and with the mouth one confesses and is saved.”
You then become that light! A reflection of the light of God!
Confess Him as Lord! Confession means willing to tell others about Christ and willing to follow Him in obedience all the time!
Believe in Him Acts 10:43 “43 To him all the prophets bear witness that everyone who believes in him receives forgiveness of sins through his name.””
Baptism - a picture of following Christ in obedience. Acts 10:47 “47 “Can anyone withhold water for baptizing these people, who have received the Holy Spirit just as we have?””
Thus you are the light of the world, reflecting that of the Only Begotten of the Father!
Matthew 5:16 “16 In the same way, let your light shine before others, so that they may see your good works and give glory to your Father who is in heaven.”
*How do we let our light shine before others?
A. By placing our lamp under the bed? No
B. By placing our righteous Christ, our faith in Him, out for people to see! So His light that is shining in us shines for all to see!
3. For what purpose to we let our light shine?
A. So others see it the good works!
B. And give glory to the Father!
