Reformation Day

Reformation Day is celebrated on October 31, and it marks the day in 1517 when a man named Martin Luther took a bold stand for the truth. He nailed a list of 95 statements—called the Ninety-Five Theses—to the door of a church in Wittenberg, Germany. Luther wanted people to know that salvation couldn’t be bought or earned, but was a free gift from God. His actions started a movement that changed the church forever and reminded believers to focus on what the Bible really says.

The Reformation is built around five key truths called the Five Solas (which means “alone” in Latin):

Sola Scriptura – Scripture Alone: The Bible is our ultimate source of truth and guidance—not traditions or opinions.

Sola Fide – Faith Alone: We are made right with God through faith, not by trying to earn His approval.

Sola Gratia – Grace Alone: Salvation is a gift from God; we can’t deserve it or work for it.

Solus Christus – Christ Alone: Jesus is the only way to God—no one else can save us.

Soli Deo Gloria – To the Glory of God Alone: Everything we do should point back to God’s greatness, not our own.

Reformation Day is a reminder to stand firm in our faith, trust God’s Word, and live for His glory in everything we do.
