Safeguards
When we talk about hearing the voice of the Spirit of Almighty God, people sometimes fear that they could get it mixed up with the voice of Satan or the voice of their own hearts’ desires.
Too often, the solution they think best is to not seek the spiritual life at all—to simply live out of biblical law and ignore the possibility of hearing from God personally.
This is certainly one alternative, and many people have obviously taken this path, but it is clearly not the way of the abundant life Jesus promised us.
Instead, God has given us several safeguards in Scripture that, if we will follow them, we can live as Jesus did, comfortable and confident we are protected and in the Father’s care in both the spiritual and physical worlds.
The Scriptures

But God resists the proud and gives grace to the humble.
An arrogant spirit will eventually cause a person to fall into deception.
We all need to be committed to a local expression of the Body of Christ, and anyone who wants to delve into the spiritual dimension of life should have a relationship with a spiritual counselor they respect.
We cannot survive if we try to walk alone. The Lord will show you with whom you are to establish an accountability relationship, if you ask Him.
