Day 7 — Israel Stumbled, But Not Forever

Title: Stumbling Is Not the End — God Will Lift Israel Again

📖 Romans 9:30–33

OPENING

Welcome to Day 7 in our series on God’s heart and plan for Israel.

Today Paul speaks about Israel stumbling — but hear me clearly — stumbling is not falling forever.

Not for Israel…

Not for you…

Not for anyone who turns to Jesus in faith.

✅ 

THE SURPRISE IN GOD’S PLAN

Paul writes:

📖 Romans 9:30–31 (NKJV)

“Gentiles, who did not pursue righteousness, have attained to righteousness…

but Israel, pursuing the law of righteousness, has not attained.”

Gentiles weren’t seeking God…

but they found righteousness by faith.

Israel pursued righteousness…

but missed it by works.

They tried to be right with God through rules rather than relationship.

They trusted effort instead of the Messiah.

THE STUMBLING STONE

Why did Israel stumble?

📖 Romans 9:32 (NKJV)

“For they stumbled at that stumbling stone.”

Who is the stumbling stone?

Jesus — the cornerstone.

📖 Romans 9:33 (NKJV)

“Behold, I lay in Zion a stumbling stone and rock of offense,

and whoever believes on Him will not be put to shame.”

To some, Christ is a stone to stand on.

To others, He becomes a stone they trip over.

✅ 

THE HEART OF THE MATTER — FAITH vs. WORKS

Israel’s stumble wasn’t about ethnicity — it was about belief.

Gentiles believed → received righteousness

Many Jews trusted works → missed grace

Paul isn’t condemning Israel — he’s grieving.

He longs for their salvation (Romans 10:1).

And here’s the good news:

God isn’t done with Israel.

Their stumble is temporary, not terminal.

Just like when we stumble — God restores.

APPLICATION

This passage speaks to two groups:

✅ To believers:

Don’t rely on religious activity.

Church attendance doesn’t save you.

Morality doesn’t save you.

Trying harder doesn’t save you.

Jesus saves you.

Faith, not effort.

Grace, not performance.

✅ To those praying for Israel:

Don’t lose hope.

The same God who opened the door to Gentiles

will soften Israel’s heart.

He promised — and He keeps His promises.

✅ 

PERSONAL ENCOURAGEMENT

Have you stumbled?

Have you failed?

Have you fallen short?

Your story isn’t over.

If God restores His covenant people,

He will restore you.

Stumbling is not final when grace is available.

✅ 

DECLARATION

Father, I thank You that stumbling is not falling forever.

I stand on Christ the Cornerstone, not on my works.

I declare Israel will be restored, and I will walk in grace and faith today.

I will not trust in my goodness — I trust in Jesus!

Amen.

PRAYER

Lord, thank You for Your covenant faithfulness.

Thank You for opening salvation to the Gentiles and preserving Israel.

Restore, awaken, and bring revelation to Your chosen people.

Strengthen our faith, break pride, and keep us standing on Christ alone.

In Jesus’ name — Amen.
