Psalm 92

A Song for the Sabbath Day
Opening Call

Leader: It is good to give thanks to the LORD,

People: To sing praises to Your name, O Most High!

Leader: To declare Your steadfast love in the morning,

People: And Your faithfulness by night.

Worship with Instruments

Leader: With the ten-stringed lute and with the harp,

People: With resounding music upon the lyre.

Leader: For You, O LORD, have made me glad by Your work;

People: At the works of Your hands I sing for joy!

God's Greatness and Man's Foolishness
Leader: How great are Your works, O LORD!
People: Your thoughts are very deep.
Leader: The stupid man cannot know; the fool cannot understand this:
People: That though the wicked sprout like grass and all evildoers flourish,
Leader: They are doomed to destruction forever;
People: But You, O LORD, are on high forever.
The Destiny of God's Enemies
Leader: For behold, Your enemies, O LORD,
People: For behold, Your enemies shall perish;
Leader: All evildoers shall be scattered.
People: But You have exalted my horn like that of the wild ox;
Leader: You have poured over me fresh oil.
People: My eyes have seen the downfall of my enemies.
The Flourishing of the Righteous

Leader: The righteous flourish like the palm tree

People: And grow like a cedar in Lebanon.

Leader: They are planted in the house of the LORD;

People: They flourish in the courts of our God.

Leader: They still bear fruit in old age;

People: They are ever full of sap and green,

Closing Declaration

All together: To declare that the LORD is upright; He is my rock, and there is no unrighteousness in Him!
