Intro — The psalmist realized he was in touch with an omniscient, omnipresent, omnipotent God. Nowhere else in Scripture does the Holy Spirit give us such a detailed exposition of these three essential attributes of God.
VERSE 1-6 — “Heavenly Father, what a joy it is to belong to the One who possesses all knowledge of all things. Your understanding of me has pierced deep within my soul. There is nothing about me that can be hidden from you. You understand me no matter if I am awake or asleep, what direction I am traveling, or the message I am declaring with my tongue. Help me to continually reflect on the power of your omniscience so I might live with a greater zeal to present myself holy before You! How thankful I am for your omniscience.”
VERSES 7-12 — “Heavenly Father, this world sometimes leaves me feeling alone and hopeless. How comforting it is to know that You are a Father who continues to lead me through Your Word and hold me by Your Spirit. I realize that no matter where I am or how dark life may get, You stay true to Your promise of never leaving me, nor forsaking me. How joyful it is to go from Your presence in my life on earth to Your eternal presence in Heaven above! Praise Your name for never losing sight of my greatest needs.”
VERSES 13-18 — “Heavenly Father, in a world that tries to press me to change who You have made me to be, I pray for Your Spirit to bring back to my remembrance that You made me with great precision for an even greater purpose in mind. Oh, what a joyful thought it is to know that You did not leave my form to random forces, but created me with forward-loving thoughts and the power of Your omnipotence. I rejoice in You for never letting a moment pass by that You are not considering me!”
VERSE 19-24 — “Heavenly Father, as I meditate on Your loving kindness channeled through the grace of Jesus Christ, I grow a hatred for those who rise against You! I aim at having a holy hatred like that of Jesus, but sometimes I find myself allowing the flesh to rise and tempt me to sin. I ask for You as the Psalmist did, “Search me, O God, and know my thoughts: And see if there be any wicked way in me, And lead me in the way everlasting.” Search me and guide me that I might live a life inwardly and outwardly that is pleasing to You.”
Amen
