5:00 - 5:40 Games / drinks / get settled

Pray / give instructions / eat & vote

Games: each person gets 7 tickets. Once you play each game, put your ticket in the jar next to the game to be drawn at the end of the night.

Food: Eat chili and place your 3 tickets in whichever chili you want to vote for. Place the colored stickies next to each chili to identify which chili you want to vote for

Bathroom: Inside to the right

Doing things like the Harvest Festival, I get joy out of it...

It is FUN to serve God...

To spend time with the church family...

To join together in God-honoring fellowship with brothers and sisters in Christ...

The world looks at Christianity as service and duty...

But it’s actually a delight...

Delight: a high degree of pleasure, satisfaction of mind. A more permanent pleasure than joy and not dependent on sudden excitement

It burdens me to see people who view obedience to God’s Word as a burden, drag or chore...

There’s so many people who do not know the delight of serving God...

In relation to serving God: when I do things my way, it’s a drag… When I do things God’s way, it’s a delight...

Here’s the thing...

We don’t need:

dressing up in creepy or inappropriate costumes

trick-or-treating

alcohol

dance parties

and drugs

We can enjoy ourselves by:

Getting together

Eating some chili

Winning some prizes

Eating some dessert

and now reading some Bible

It’s important to note that “Godliness” and “holiness” does not mean giving everything away and doing nothing fun...

Religion doesn’t hold a chain… in fact, God breaks the chains...

The closer we get to God and the further from our sin, the less denying self feels like a chore...

As you read through the Bible...

You can find that God has placed delight in so many things...

None of them are sin and the world...

1. We can delight in God’s laws

Psalm 1:2 KJV 1900

2 But his delight is in the law of the Lord; And in his law doth he meditate day and night.

2. We can delight in God’s Will

Psalm 40:8 KJV 1900

8 I delight to do thy will, O my God: Yea, thy law is within my heart.

3. We can delight in God Himself

Psalm 37:4 KJV 1900

4 Delight thyself also in the Lord; And he shall give thee the desires of thine heart.

4. We can delight in God’s Word

24 Thy testimonies also are my delight And my counsellers.

35 Make me to go in the path of thy commandments; For therein do I delight.

5. We can delight in God’s People

Psalm 119:63 KJV 1900

63 I am a companion of all them that fear thee, And of them that keep thy precepts.

The world says we need everything it has to offer to obtain a high degree of pleasure or satisfaction of mind… i.e. delight
