Matthew 5:16 CSB
16 In the same way, let your light shine before others, so that they may see your good works and give glory to your Father in heaven.
How many of you would say that most of your friends claim to be Christians and attend a bible preaching church? How many of you because of this fact feels a little confused about how to be a light and make an impact? I want to show you this morning how when we forget our purpose we
I have mentioned before that I love familiar verses because we often take them for granted and forget to give them the consideration they deserve.
Being an outdoor nerd, I love flashlights. Now there are two ways flashlights brightness is measured. 1. Is candlepower, this is intensity in a specific direction and then what you all are most familiar with is probably lumens. This measures total light output. Both of these are what is called stackable. Meaning that if I take two 500 lumen lights put them together they will emit 1000 lumens together. If I take two flashlights and align their beams perfectly they will shine on an object with double intensity. Now with candle power this isn't always the case due to certain factors but it will always create a measurable difference in intensity.
So what we see is that even light shining in light makes a difference.
Let me show you.....
Which by the way did you know that the human body produces light? This makes sense because God is a god of light. Also did you know that everything in the entire universe vibrates and has its own frequency and we see in Genesis that God spoke(vibration) into existence everything. so that even to this day all of creation still resonates with the very voice of God. Sorry that was for free. I just get really excited about the idea that our bodies still resonate God’s with the power of God’s voice.
So back to this idea of light. When we choose to let our light shine with others our impact multiplies. Our light shines brighter together. When you shine your light among God’s people your light increases there light and the result is the same. Light shine bright in darkness and increases brightness where light is already present and the result is the same. God is glorified.
Paul said it this way:
1 Timothy 4:12 CSB
12 Don’t let anyone despise your youth, but set an example for the believers in speech, in conduct, in love, in faith, and in purity.
