Mirror in pieces, we see fragments, not the whole picture, these are lies that either don’t display the whole truth or it distorts what we actually are
Hello my name is Geoffrey Tolentino and this is my submission for week 2 on Luke and Acts
I chose the third question, How does Luke and Acts provide a more complete picture of salvation?
Reading through Luke and then immediately going through Acts paints a picture of a period of time from the early accounts of Jesus and His birth, Jesus’ ministry, death, burial, and resurrection, His ascension, and the start of the 1st century church, and the apostle Paul spreading the message of the Gospel to the ends of the earth.
To display the complete picture of salvation, I want to focus on Peter and the dramatic change that we see in his character
In Luke we are introduced to him in Chapter 5 talking to Jesus saying that they have toiled all night and caught nothing, but followed in obedience when asked to cast the net on the other side.
There is a parallel of our walk here in where we toil and struggle in the flesh but are not able to do anything until we follow Christ and call Him our Lord.
We see Peter throughout the Gospel accounts as the kind of guy who shoots from the hip, acts emotionally and makes rash decisions such as cutting off the ear of Malchus in Gethsemane.
Eventually Peter denies Jesus, but eventually is restored by Him after Jesus is risen from the dead.
Fast forward to the book of Acts where Peter is found to become the leader of the apostles and outspoken with wisdom and moved and inspired by the Holy Spirit.
The point is this, Peter was once led by sin, guided by the flesh, but is now fulfilling the will of God in serving and leading the apostles and is led by the Holy Spirit.
Any believer’s walk should mimic Peter’s model of a past life and way of sin, the profession of faith in Jesus as Lord, and being able to see the fruit of their salvation.
