Some 6 days before Christmas is to be crucified, he is sitting in Bethany with his disciples and childhood Martha, Mary and Lazarus.
Their sitting around the table reclining
I can only imagine what the conversation is about. Maybe remembering old times
Mary walks up crying
3 Then Mary took a pound of very costly oil of spikenard, anointed the feet of Jesus, and wiped His feet with her hair. And the house was filled with the fragrance of the oil.
4 But one of His disciples, Judas Iscariot, Simon’s son, who would betray Him, said,
5 “Why was this fragrant oil not sold for three hundred denarii and given to the poor?”
6 This he said, not that he cared for the poor, but because he was a thief, and had the money box; and he used to take what was put in it.
7 But Jesus said, “Let her alone; she has kept this for the day of My burial.
8 For the poor you have with you always, but Me you do not have always.”
Mary is only mention 3 times in scripture and everytime she is mentioned she is at the feet of jesus.
Mary Sitting at Jesus’ Feet — Listening
41 And Jesus answered and said to her, “Martha, Martha, you are worried and troubled about many things.
42 But one thing is needed, and Mary has chosen that good part, which will not be taken away from her.”
📌 Here Mary is quietly seated at His feet, choosing intimacy and attention to His Word over activity and distraction.
She is being discipled
Mary Falling at Jesus’ Feet — Weeping (John 11:28–35)
32 Then, when Mary came where Jesus was, and saw Him, she fell down at His feet, saying to Him, “Lord, if You had been here, my brother would not have died.”
📌 Here Mary’s devotion reaches its highest point — she anoints Him for burial, recognizing His worth and giving her all.
This is not just weep her faith is now under pressure
And everytime she is misunderstood by man because of her worship
Your devotion to Christ will cause you to be misunderstood by man.
First they say she should be working.
They thinks she’s crazy for going back to the tomb of her brother she is historical.
Because she has walked and talked with jesus , she has heard the stories and testimonies and she knows who he is.
Bring it bck
And in this moment they say that her sacrifice is too much . Her worship is too much.

She could have done better things with her gift
The point was to her it wasn’t enough, it was probably the best she had. How else was she going to show her gratitude to the one who has changed her life, saved her brother.
Whether he told her or it the spirit told here
How much is really to much, how much worship, giving , service how much tears are too much. How much gratitude
Mary is devoted to Christ
Here is the flip side  When Judas sees this he is offended and riles up the others disciples to get mad .
Jesus rebukes them
And the Judas goes to betray him
What’s your response to what he has done?
