GAME
GAME
Here’s a fun, kid-friendly explanation you can read aloud or display when introducing the game in children’s church:
🧱 Game: “10-Block Build-Off!”
🧱 Game: “10-Block Build-Off!”
Goal:
Each team (or individual) will use exactly 10 Lego blocks of the same size to build something creative — as tall, strong, or imaginative as they can!
How to Play:
Everyone gets 10 Lego blocks — no more, no less!
When the leader says “Go!”, you’ll have 2 minutes to build anything you want — a tower, a bridge, an animal, or even something nobody’s ever seen before!
When time’s up, stop building and hold up your creation.
The leader (or judges) will choose winners in fun categories like:
Most Creative
Tallest Build
Strongest Design (doesn’t fall when gently shaken!)
Most Biblical Build (something that reminds you of a Bible story!)
Lesson Tie-In:
Just like we’re using the same number of blocks, God gives everyone what they need to build something amazing with their lives. It’s not about how much you have — it’s about what you do with what God gives you!
Bible Verse Idea:
“Whatever you do, do it all for the glory of God.” — 1 Corinthians 10:31

I. God Rested—Not Because He Needed To, But Because We Do

A. God Created Everything… Then Rested
A. God Created Everything… Then Rested
Genesis 2:3 (NLT)
"And God blessed the seventh day and declared it holy, because it was the day when he rested from all his work of creation."
God made the whole world in 6 days—light, sky, land, stars, animals, and people!
On the seventh day, God stopped. Not because He was tired—but because He was finished.
God didn’t run out of energy. He chose to rest to show us something important.
Ask the kids:
“What do you like to do to rest? Nap? Read? Play quietly?”
B. God’s Rest Was a Celebration, Not a Nap
B. God’s Rest Was a Celebration, Not a Nap
God’s rest was like saying:
“Wow! Look at all I’ve done. It is very good!”
He celebrated everything He made—just like we celebrate finishing a puzzle or cleaning our room.
Object Lesson Idea:
Bring a completed LEGO set or puzzle. Ask:
“How would you feel after finishing this? Would you want to take a moment to enjoy what you made?”
→ That’s what God did!
C. Rest is Trusting God is Still Working
C. Rest is Trusting God is Still Working
Sometimes, we feel like we have to keep going, going, going.
But rest shows that we trust God. We stop, and let Him keep working behind the scenes.
Psalm 121:4 (NLT)
"Indeed, he who watches over Israel never slumbers or sleeps."
God never sleeps! He watches over us even when we rest.
That means we can take breaks, have peace, and trust God’s got it under control.
II. What Can Rest Look Like for Us?
II. What Can Rest Look Like for Us?
A. Rest Isn’t Just Naps—it’s Time With God
A. Rest Isn’t Just Naps—it’s Time With God
Resting doesn’t just mean lying down.
It can be praying, worshipping, reading the Bible, or just being quiet with Jesus.
Mark 6:31 (NLT)
"Then Jesus said, 'Let’s go off by ourselves to a quiet place and rest awhile.' He said this because there were so many people coming and going that Jesus and his apostles didn’t even have time to eat."
Even Jesus took time to rest and be alone with God.
B. Sabbath = Special Day for Rest
B. Sabbath = Special Day for Rest
God made a day each week called the Sabbath. It’s a day to stop and spend time with Him.
It’s not about rules—it’s about refreshing our hearts with God.
III. Rest Is a Gift from God
III. Rest Is a Gift from God
A. God Knows We Need Rest
A. God Knows We Need Rest
Exodus 20:9–10 (NLT)
"You have six days each week for your ordinary work, but the seventh day is a Sabbath day of rest dedicated to the Lord your God."
God built rest into our week because He knows we need it!
It’s a gift, not a chore.
B. We Can Choose to Rest
B. We Can Choose to Rest
Matthew 11:28 (NLT)
"Then Jesus said, 'Come to me, all of you who are weary and carry heavy burdens, and I will give you rest.'"
When life feels heavy—Jesus says, "Come to Me".
He gives rest not just to our bodies, but to our hearts.
Conclusion: Resting Like God
Conclusion: Resting Like God
Main Point Recap:
God rested—not because He was tired, but to show us how to live well.
Rest is an act of worship, trust, and joy.
Final Challenge for Kids:
Final Challenge for Kids:
"This week, take time to rest—maybe that means reading your Bible, sitting quietly with God, or even taking a peaceful walk. Ask God to refresh your heart!"
