Bible Impact Lesson - 7:15-7:30
Raise your hand if you find it hard to obey sometimes.
Why do you think it’s so hard for us to obey?
Who remembers the two people who disobeyed for the very first time? (Adam and Eve)
Let’s take a look at what they did.
16 And the Lord God commanded the man, saying, Of every tree of the garden thou mayest freely eat:
17 But of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil, thou shalt not eat of it: for in the day that thou eatest thereof thou shalt surely die.
Are you still with me? Does everyone get what God is saying here?
You have all sorts of trees to eat off, but not this one
Unclear commands: Son, when I’m gone I want you clean up the dishwasher with those pairs of plyers from the shed but make sure the laudry machine doesn’t have any vacuum dust in it. Can you do that for me?
- What’s going to happen when dad gets back home? (Not done!)
They disobeyed God’s clear command
6 And when the woman saw that the tree was good for food, and that it was pleasant to the eyes, and a tree to be desired to make one wise, she took of the fruit thereof, and did eat, and gave also unto her husband with her; and he did eat.
It is so very important that we obey God and the one’s God has placed in our authority. Can you imagine if nobody ever obeyed?
Nobody obeys anything:
- Traffic lights
Would you want to live in a world like that? Nobody would!
Rules and laws are in place to keep us safe and have better lives.
Let’s think of some good reasons why you and I should obey. Tell me some reasons why we should obey, and I will write them down here (White board)
(My list)
The Bible tells us to obey authorities (Romans 13:7)
It’s a way we show our love for God (John 14:15)
Obedience shows love and respect to my parents (Ephesians 6:1)
When I obey, I please God (Jeremiah 7:23)
