Peace
Peace
Paul prayed for peace for the Ephesian church, and peace is a mark of God’s church, provided in God (1 Thess. 5:23-24)
We are most miraculously provided peace with God through God -> this is the greatest disparity gap
Detailed in chapter 1, in Jesus Christ our sins are forgiven and we are made new (Rom. 5:1-2)!
We are provided peace with the church through God -> Still miraculous, as we are contentious folks!
Detailed in the rest of the letter, when we meet at the Lord, we find supernatural communion
Matthew and Simon, Paul and Ananias, and Philemon and Onesimus all show this example
We must provoke peace with the world through God, but this is also dependent upon them
They may not be at peace with you, but you must be at peace with them
Not that we become door mats, but that we seek peace above all else and let the Lord have vengeance (difficult when considered)
It was Paul’s prayer that they could have this peace (Rom. 12:18; 1 Tim. 2:1-3)
Love with Faith
Love with Faith
It is only by love with faith that we can be at peace with one another
The church must love one another -> this will solve all of our relational issues (1Pet. 4:8-11)
Selfish love is not love at all!
The church must love the world -> we must not forget that Christ “so loved the world” (1 Tim. 2:1-6)
A Godly love is one that must be mixed with faith -> when love is a labor, we must trust the fruit to come as the Lord has promised
Love will cost us, and we need to trust that the results are worth the cost
Sincere Grace
Sincere Grace
Grace did not stop the moment we were saved, but is an ever-present and unending reality for the child of God
It is available to the child of God at all times -> giving life, giving power, gifting spiritual gifts, and changing lives!
Grace is mandatory for us to operate withing the confines of God’s kingdom
We can have no peace, love, or fruit apart from the grace of God wherein we stand!
By the grace of God, we must stand and fight in this daily war, remembering the spiritual blessings in heavenly places in Christ!
