There are many “trip hazards” in life.
There are many “trip hazards” in life.
In life there are many things which may trip us up: literally and figuratively. I’m certain you are similar enough to me that you know how true this is. Sometimes we are tripped by major things but at least for me it is the small things.
We all worship someone/something each day.
We all worship someone/something each day.
Worship happens because we were created to worship. The question is not are we worshipping but who/what are we worshipping.
Doxologies help us be grounded in our worship.
Doxologies help us be grounded in our worship.
Today we start a three part series on the doxologies of the NT. There are at least 16 agreed upon doxologies by most scholars. All worship is not equal.
Jude has the longest doxology in the NT.
Jude has the longest doxology in the NT.
This is decided by word count and length in greek. It’s content is more expanded than others.
God is able.
God is able.
Stop there and be reminded that the One we worship is able to do all things. We do not have a “god” who is limited nor uninterested. We do not have a good who is impotent to do something. This does not mean God will do something because he is also all wise, as other doxologies will teach us.
God will guard, keep and help us not stumble.
God will guard, keep and help us not stumble.
God is like the person walking alongside you when your foot catches something and you are caught. He is also about letting us know ahead of time to watch out. You are safe with God.
At judgement we are presented whole and holy.
At judgement we are presented whole and holy.
Let this sit with you for a moment. Not only will he help you not stumble he will present you/us before his presence as whole and holy. This wording alludes to the judgement and the sacrifice system.
The security of God should produce joy.
The security of God should produce joy.
If we take the statement that God has the joy this should comfort. However, I take it that we should have exceeding joy because God will present us in His presence as whole. Though we need to fear God because of who He is we can have joy because of His plan.
All this is through Jesus.
All this is through Jesus.
Jesus alone allows us to approach God. Jesus alone is the way of salvation. Jesus alone provides the final sacrifice. We cannot do it.
God alone deserves worship for He is the only God.
God alone deserves worship for He is the only God.
It is not about us. Who do you worship? What do you worship?
