Remodel Week #6 – Monitor and Making Progress

We have done the initial work for this project.  all THE Preparation

Now today we learn that we must monitor and make progress. 

We should be at LEAST in the starting phases…

the Foreman is on site, and the work is ready to begin

you are excited and a little scared at the same time

SEARCH MY HEART O GOD (Ps 139:23)

and CREATE A NEW HEART IN ME (ps 51:10)

THIS IS THE CORE OF THE REMODEL — THE RENOVATION

Jesus is interested in our progress not our perfection.

Think about this… we are not doing the completion…

We GLORIFY GOD by making PROGRESS

We have a blessing in our Walk that we often FAIL to remember.

The Holy Spirit is in US. THE FOREMAN

He intercedes for us.

We just continue to do the WORK

He is our GUIDE

HE IS our INTERCESSION

HE IS our DESIGNER

HE IS THE POWER IN ALL OUR TOOLS

Introduction

I want to REMIND you of the REASON for the REMODEL

1 Peter 2:24 ESV

24 He himself bore our sins in his body on the tree, that we might die to sin and live to righteousness. By his wounds you have been healed.

6 And I am sure of this, that he who began a good work in you will bring it to completion at the day of Jesus Christ.

DIRECT YOU:

15 “If you love me, you will keep my commandments.

FOCUS YOU:

16 “For God so loved the world, that he gave his only Son, that whoever believes in him should not perish but have eternal life.

EXTEND YOU:

28 Him we proclaim, warning everyone and teaching everyone with all wisdom, that we may present everyone mature in Christ. 29 For this I toil, struggling with all his energy that he powerfully works within me.

We have done the initial work for this project.

Now today we learn that we must monitor and make progress.

Jesus is interested in our progress, not our perfection.

Remodel is Restoration.

Restoration comes from Revival

Our old self. Was like an old rusty, broken down car sitting in a barn.

Covered with dirt, covered with rust.

That’s where our heart was before we found Jesus.

It’s why people struggle today.

Because their car is continually breaking down because it’s in need.

RUST and DECAY are SETTING IN

And as brothers and sisters in Christ, we need to direct where that need comes from.

We need to encourage them.

To be restored in the model of Christ Jesus.

It’s describing our own process, our testimony.

Where we can encourage others that it’s not even that we can do it, it’s that he can do it.

All things can be done through Christ Jesus.

And a slight variation on this means

that all your To Do List all your assessment.

All those things that you know need to be fixed.

You have to have the faith and the belief.

That comes only through Jesus Christ, that these things can be conquered, these things can be overcome.

And once you accept that and you believe that.

Then you get to see the power in Jesus that he’s been calling you to.

This is the core of our message today.

That we need to be present on the job site

Not as a Meddler but as a Monitor.

WE MUST BE ACTIVE

Being Present on the Jobsite

BE AWARE —- WATCH YOUR WALK

Colossians 2:8 (NIV)

See to it that no one takes you captive through hollow and deceptive philosophy, which depends on human tradition and the elemental spiritual forces of this world rather than on Christ.

Let me share with you a little illustration.

In 1886. A man named Karl Benz is credited with creating the modern automobile.

It shouldn’t be too hard for you to imagine that, people. Dislike change. And maybe even more. Accurate is we only like change that we like.

You see, prior to 1886, everything was done on horseback or walking.

I mean, even in the Civil War, you see men marching from Virginia to Georgia and all over the place from Washington. DC to Gettysburg. The lucky one’s got to ride horses or.

Ride in a horse drawn carriage but. Sometime around 1886.

Life forever changed. There was something new.

PEOPLE were raising all types of objections to the CHANGE TO THE NORM

BUT COULD YOU LIVE WITH OUT AT VEHICLE TODAY

aren’t you full of praise for your car or truck

This was CHANGE that CHANGED our LIVES

and it was WELCOMED by 100 % of the people.

Is he wants that change started, new Horizons opened?

Travel changed. Family changed, exploration changed, distribution of trade and products changed.

As we go through this remodel series, we need to understand that that is the depth of accepting Jesus Christ,

that things will never be the same

You see? Our Lord Jesus Christ is the restorer. But this church you. Need to be the repair shop.

We don’t make the parts that was from our creator.

We don’t even design the plan.

We didn’t engineer the parts to work together.

But we do have a responsibility to learn to put them together in a way that the great creator,

the great engineer designed. We need to continually grow in our expertise.

You see, our spiritual house is exactly like that old car, that old car that was sitting there,

and most people would walk by it

and decide that it’s of no use

and just put it up into the woods and let it rot away.

And in our sin we were rotting away.

We had no direction, no life.

Death and nothingness was our our only goal,

the fact that we would face judgment

and be thrown into a pit to be destroyed.

BUT GOD DESIGNED YOU FOR A PURPOSE

We were in need of a remodel.

We were in need of a restoration.

You know, we talked about.

How no remodel goes without messiness.

It also doesn’t go without surprises.

That’s why we need to monitor and not mettle.

We need to understand that sometimes we’re going to run into a problem.

But even in light of the problem, we see the praise.

You open up a wall to redo your bathroom

and you find out that your spigot

or your plumbing has been leaking for years.

Aren’t you like, Oh my, gosh, I’m so glad we found that.

You open up an outside wall and you find termite damage that you didn’t even know.

An evil force was chewing at your foundation.

So silently, so unknowingly.

That you didn’t even know it, but had you not found that damage?

Your house would have crumbled and been destroyed.

But because of the great remodeler.

You discovered that, that problem.

That’s where we praise in the problem, because we realize that by finding that.

NO ONE WANTS TO PAY THAT PRICE

BUT THE GOSPEL IS THAT IT IS ALREADY PAID.

We were able to fix it before our spiritual house was wrecked.

So here is some action items for you

Beware of the Philosophy of Man

because CNN or FOX or FB says so

Do NOT allow others to shape our identity —- you belong to GOD and need to BECOME like CHRIST

We need to be on the JOB site daily

YOU NEED TO BE PRESENT

We need SEEK FIRST

DAILY REVIEW OF THE PLANS

SCHEDULED TIME to Start and Finish for the Day.

Need DAILY REST

WE need to EXAMINE OURSELF

2 Corinthians 13:5 (NIV)

Examine yourselves to see whether you are in the faith; test yourselves.

Do you not realize that Christ Jesus is in you—unless, of course, you fail the test?

This verse dispels the teaching of once saved, always saved here.

WE MUST UNDERSTAND THAT WE MUST BE IN CHRIST

We cannot agree to a Job and then not show up

We don’t plan a marriage and then never see or spend time with our spouse.

We are the BRIDE of CHRIST — We are HIS church

He wants to walk with us — I love Genesis that ADAM walked in the Garden with GOD

THIS IS a picture of our GOAL

– to walk with GOD with CHRIST daily to share our sorrows and our Joy — to SHARE life with HIM

Walk Through the job site.

Praise for the problem discovered…

SO THEY CAN BE FIXED and MADE BETTER

Walking Right Takes Monitoring

You have to Show up Daily

Start your day with prayer and then don’t stop

Start your day with a verse

Start you day with Devotions, journaling and PONDERING

THEN CONTINUE IT THROUGH OUT THE DAY

TALK WITH GOD THROUGH OUT THE DAY

Pray in SOLITUDE

Pray in COMMUNITY

Pray With others

PRAY IS Monitoring the PROCESS

Pause is SEEKING HIM

PONDER IS SHOWING COMMITMENT AND FOCUS

PROCEEDING IS OBEYING

We need to Monitor the Work and Make Progress Daily towards Him

Conclusion

WE GLORIFY GOD BY BECOMING LIKE HIM

WE work on our REMODEL

LEARNING TO BE A TECHINIAN IN THE CHURCH —- THE REPAIR SHOP

WE LOVE GOD AND LOVE OTHERS

WE SERVE GOD AND WE SERVE OTHERS

and take communion — to take this time to be in CO — UNION with HIM
