A Letter to the Exiles. 29:1-32.
The prophets of optimism were busy among the Judeans already exiled to Babylon (those carried away after the 597 B.C. attack on Jerusalem), as well as among those still in Jerusalem. 10. Yoke. See note on 27:2. 12. Later Jeremiah received an answer for Hananiah. 16. Jeremiah made a counter sign (cf. v. 3). Its fulfillment meant not only the discrediting of Hananiah as a prophet, but also his death (v. 17).
