THE GOSPEL: A FULL, BIBLICAL PRESENTATION FOR PREACHING

1. God Created Us for His Glory and Fellowship

The Bible begins with God — holy, eternal, sovereign — and He made us in His image to know Him, love Him, and live under His good and gracious rule.

Revelation 4:11 — “You created all things, and by Your will they existed and were created.” Isaiah 43:7 — “Everyone who is called by My name... whom I created for My glory.”

We were designed for relationship with God — but the problem is not outside of us. It’s inside of us.

2. Our Sin Has Separated Us from God

Every person has rejected God’s rule and chosen their own way. The Bible calls this sin. It is not merely failing; it is rebellion.

Romans 3:23 — “For all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God.” Isaiah 53:6 — “We all, like sheep, have gone astray; we have turned—every one—to his own way.”

Sin brings guilt. Guilt brings judgment. And judgment brings death — not just physical, but eternal.

Romans 6:23 — “The wages of sin is death…”

This is the eternal divide: God is holy, and we are not. And no amount of religion or effort can bridge that gap.

3. We Are Unable to Save Ourselves

Humanity’s greatest problem is not ignorance, lack of purpose, or emotional pain — it is the wrath of a holy God against our sin. Moral reform cannot remove guilt. Good works cannot erase sin. No one climbs to God by effort.

Ephesians 2:8–9 — “By grace you have been saved through faith. And this is not your own doing… not a result of works…”

Human effort cannot undo divine justice. We need a substitute — someone righteous who will stand in our place.

4. God Sent His Son Jesus Christ to Rescue Sinners

Jesus Christ — fully God and fully man — lived the perfect obedience we failed to live and then willingly took the judgment we deserved.

1 Peter 3:18 — “For Christ also suffered once for sins, the righteous for the unrighteous, that He might bring us to God.” Romans 5:8 — “God shows His love for us in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us.”

On the cross, Jesus did not die as a martyr or a moral example. He bore the wrath of God, paid the penalty of sin, and satisfied divine justice. Then He rose from the dead, proving His sacrifice was accepted and His victory complete.

1 Corinthians 15:4 — “He was raised on the third day…”

A crucified Savior who stayed dead could not save anyone. But a resurrected King can save to the uttermost.

5. God Now Commands All People to Repent and Believe

Salvation is offered freely, but it is not received automatically. God calls every person to turn from sin and trust in Jesus Christ alone for salvation.

Mark 1:15 — “Repent and believe in the gospel.” Romans 10:9 — “If you confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart that God raised Him from the dead, you will be saved.”

Repentance is not cleaning up your life before coming to God. It is turning away from sin and self-rule. Faith is not “trying harder to be spiritual.” It is resting fully on Christ — His death, His resurrection, His righteousness.

6. All Who Believe Are Forgiven, Made New, and Given Eternal Life

The moment a sinner turns to Christ, everything changes:

Their sins are forgiven

Their condemnation is removed

They are declared righteous in God’s sight

They are adopted into God’s family

They receive the Holy Spirit

They are secured for eternity

Romans 8:1 — “There is therefore now no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus.” 2 Corinthians 5:17 — “If anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation.”

This is not a second chance at life — it is new life.

7. Those Who Reject Christ Will Face Eternal Judgment

The Gospel is good news, but it is good news against a dark backdrop. Jesus spoke clearly and repeatedly about hell because judgment is real.

John 3:36 — “Whoever does not obey the Son shall not see life, but the wrath of God remains on him.” Hebrews 9:27 — “It is appointed for man to die once, and after that comes judgment.”

Eternity is not a vague idea. It is a destination. Every person will stand before God.

8. The Call

The Gospel demands a response. Not curiosity. Not delay. Not half-hearted agreement. A response of the heart:

Turn from your sin. Believe in the Lord Jesus Christ. Surrender your life to Him.

A prayer does not save. Christ saves. But those who truly believe call upon Him:

“Lord, I am a sinner. I cannot save myself. I believe Jesus died in my place and rose again. I turn from my sin and trust in Him as my Savior and King. Make me Yours.”

Whoever comes to Christ in faith will never be cast out.
