Matthew 11:25-30

Our Strength Is External

Christ extends an invitation here to come, with all weariness and burdens, and rest will be what you receive
When we surrender things to God, we are not denying their weight or carrying their heaviness with any lack of conviction, but rather we are putting our whole hope in Christ
We are a people who wrestle with the troubles of this world but have our eyes set on the hope of Christ
Doesn’t mean our hurt goes away or situation is resolved. Rather we can experience the peace that comes with walking with Christ

You Can’t Love God and Control

Part of the idea of surrendering something to the Lord is surrendering what we wish or what we want
Jesus in the garden prays to be relieved of his call (3x- Matt 26)
Matthew 26:39-44
But ultimately surrenders his fear and worry to the Lord
Part of this lighter burden that Christ offers to you and I is the invitation to not know exactly what to do, but to not have to bear it alone
We cannot surrender to God what we are trying to change or “power through”
Surrender looks like acknowledging the gravity of what is happening/ has happened, yet trusting that God can and will do great things in the midst of the chaos

Come and Rest

Extend an invitation to prayer
Invite the students to rest in the chaos of their life
For those struggling, Give their worry to the Lord. Trust that he can handle what they are asking of Him
Thank God for how He has been faithful in the past
