1 John 3:1 “Behold, what manner of love the Father hath bestowed upon us, that we should be called the sons of God: therefore the world knoweth us not, because it knew him not.”
Behold, what manner of love
1 John 4:10 “Herein is love, not that we loved God, but that he loved us, and sent his Son to be the propitiation for our sins.”
Romans 5:8 “But God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us.”
Oh What love our Father in heaven has for us!
That we should be called the sons of God
John 1:12 “But as many as received him, to them gave he power to become the sons of God, even to them that believe on his name:”
If you’re not a child of God what are you a child of? The world, the devil
The bible calls them children of disobedience
Ephesians 5:6 “Let no man deceive you with vain words: for because of these things cometh the wrath of God upon the children of disobedience.”
Therefor the world knoweth us not, because it knew him not.
Don’t be surprised when people dislike you for what you stand for. It’s to be expected.
John 15:18–19 “If the world hate you, ye know that it hated me before it hated you. If ye were of the world, the world would love his own: but because ye are not of the world, but I have chosen you out of the world, therefore the world hateth you.”
You can’t expect carnal men to understand spiritual things.
1 John 3:2 “Beloved, now are we the sons of God, and it doth not yet appear what we shall be: but we know that, when he shall appear, we shall be like him; for we shall see him as he is.”
Verse 1 tells us what we are but verse 2 tells us what we shall be!
We shall be like HIM!
Thank God we will put away this sinful flesh and be clothed the the perfect righteousness of Christ!!
1 John 3:3 “And every man that hath this hope in him purifieth himself, even as he is pure.”
This should be what follows your salvation, you should strive to live pure, strive to live holy.
Pure means “free from contamination”
John 11:55 “And the Jews’ passover was nigh at hand: and many went out of the country up to Jerusalem before the passover, to purify themselves.”
Ceremonial Cleansing
James 4:8 “Draw nigh to God, and he will draw nigh to you. Cleanse your hands, ye sinners; and purify your hearts, ye double minded.”
Cleansing of the Heart
1 Peter 1:22 “Seeing ye have purified your souls in obeying the truth through the Spirit unto unfeigned love of the brethren, see that ye love one another with a pure heart fervently:”
