Romans 5:7–8 “For one will scarcely die for a righteous person—though perhaps for a good person one would dare even to die— but God shows his love for us in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us.”
Ephesians 2:7–8 “so that in the coming ages he might show the immeasurable riches of his grace in kindness toward us in Christ Jesus. For by grace you have been saved through faith. And this is not your own doing; it is the gift of God,”
Luke 10:25-37
Biggest hindrance to kindness is our sinfulness
wants/ desires/ opinions
bitterness/ unforgiveness
niceness
2. Kindness costs something
Time, money, status, health
Samuel confronting David’s sin
Christians taking care of sick during Plague
3. Kindness follows a three-step process: first, empathizing with another’s need, then feeling compassion, and finally taking action
The action is based on the need but rooted in truth.
Kindness is rooted in truth
K is internal; N is external
K upholds truth; N avoids truth
K active gentle support & firm discipline; N avoids conflict
Ephesians 4:32 “Be kind to one another, tenderhearted, forgiving one another, as God in Christ forgave you.”
