Mind vs. Brain

The mind is NOT material.
Exodus 36:1–3
“1 So Bezalel and Oholiab and every skilled person in whom the Lord has put skill and ability to know how to do all the work for the service of the sanctuary are to do the work according to all that the Lord has commanded.”
2 Moses summoned Bezalel and Oholiab and every skilled person in whom the Lord had put skill—everyone whose heart (mind) stirred him to volunteer to do the work.
3 They received from Moses all the offerings the Israelites had brought to do the work for the service of the sanctuary, and they still continued to bring him a freewill offering each morning.”
We start with the understanding that the mind can be medicalized!
Job 38:35–38
“35 Can you send out lightning bolts, and they go? Will they say to you, ‘Here we are’?
36 Who has put wisdom in the heart (mind), or has imparted understanding to the mind?
37 Who by wisdom can count the clouds, and who can tip over the water jars of heaven,
38 when the dust hardens into a mass, and the clumps of earth stick together?”
Daniel 6:10–14
“10 When Daniel realized that a written decree had been issued, he entered his home, where the windows in his upper room opened toward Jerusalem. Three times daily he was kneeling and offering prayers and thanks to his God just as he had been accustomed to do previously.
11 Then those officials who had gone to the king came by collusion and found Daniel praying and asking for help before his God.
12 So they approached the king and said to him, “Did you not issue an edict to the effect that for the next thirty days anyone who prays to any god or human other than to you, O king, would be thrown into a den of lions?” The king replied, “That is correct, according to the law of the Medes and Persians, which cannot be changed.”
13 Then they said to the king, “Daniel, who is one of the captives from Judah, pays no attention to you, O king, or to the edict that you issued. Three times daily he offers his prayer.”
14 When the king heard this, he was very upset and began thinking (set his mind) about how he might rescue Daniel. Until late afternoon he was struggling to find a way to rescue him.”
Luke 24:44–49
“44 Then he said to them, “These are my words that I spoke to you while I was still with you, that everything written about me in the law of Moses and the prophets and the psalms must be fulfilled.”
45 Then he opened their minds so they could understand the scriptures,
46 and said to them, “Thus it stands written that the Christ would suffer and would rise from the dead on the third day,
47 and repentance for the forgiveness of sins would be proclaimed in his name to all nations, beginning from Jerusalem.
48 You are witnesses of these things.
49 And look, I am sending you what my Father promised. But stay in the city until you have been clothed with power from on high.””
You can have a distorted, darkened, blinded, or corrupt mind!
Romans 1:26–28
“26 For this reason God gave them over to dishonorable passions. For their women exchanged the natural sexual relations for unnatural ones,
27 and likewise the men also abandoned natural relations with women and were inflamed in their passions for one another. Men committed shameless acts with men and received in themselves the due penalty for their error.
28 And just as they did not see fit to acknowledge God, God gave them over to a depraved mind, to do what should not be done.”
Romans 12:2
“Do not be conformed to this present world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, so that you may test and approve what is the will of God—what is good and well-pleasing and perfect.”
The believers mind should be transformed and renewed!
1 Corinthians 2:14–16
“14 The unbeliever does not receive the things of the Spirit of God, for they are foolishness to him. And he cannot understand them, because they are spiritually discerned.
15 The one who is spiritual discerns all things, yet he himself is understood by no one.
16 For who has known the mind of the Lord, so as to advise him? But we have the mind of Christ.”
Even immature believers have the mind of Christ
