5. Song – the musicians went out before the armies when they were going to war in the Old Testament. In 2nd Chron chapter 20, the Moabites and Ammonites along with some Meunites were coming to make war with Jehoshaphat, the man of God. They didn’t know who they were messing with. Jehoshaphat declared a fast – a weapon we’ve already talked about.
In verse 6 Jehoshaphat prays and reminds God first who He is, God knows who He is, He just wants to make sure you know who He is, this is assurance for us, then in verse 7 he reminds God of His promise of the land, this is also assurance for us.
He finally gets to the problem in verse 10. Ladies before you get into the problem, remind God and yourself about the promises, change your focus. I heard a speaker say instead of telling God about your problems, tell your problems about God.
In verse 12 – Jehoshaphat recognizes he is powerless without God, have you recognized you are powerless without God? Do you understand you don’t know what to do and have you fixed your eyes on God?
With some of your weapons, you need a little help, so let’s look at who was there with Jehoshaphat
Vs 13 – Everybody, all the men of Judah, with their wives and children and little ones, the whole family needs to go, not just Daddy or Mama
Vs 15-17 – God answers, Do not be afraid or discouraged because of this vast army. For the battle is not yours, but God’s. Tomorrow march down against them. They will be climbing up by the Pass of Ziz, and you will find them at the end of the gorge in the Desert of Jeruel. You will not have to fight this battle. Take up your positions; stand firm and see the deliverance the Lord will give you, O Judah and Jerusalem. Do not be afraid; do not be discouraged. Go out to face them tomorrow, and the Lord will be with you.
Vs 22 – while they’re singing and praising God, God was fighting their battle, so that by the time they got to the battle field, everyone was dead and it took them three days to carry off their plunder. If you know you’re headed for a battle, sing praises to God and see Him fight the battle for you, before you even get there, and when you get there just pick up your plunder and carry it off.
