Humble beginnings in the Bible

We are in a very sensitive spiritual moments and these times require lots of spiritual sensitivity of what God is doing in the church and in the life of people. We are in our 21 days of prayer and fasting and we need to be connected to the spirit.
The theme of our fast is in Isaiah 43:19 ( Behold, I will do a new thing; Now it shall spring forth; shall ye not know it?
I will even make a way in the wilderness,And rivers in the desert) which says that the Lord will do a new thing, this is to say its a new season for the church and God’s people will experience a novelty.
My title today is do not neglect humble beginnings. When a new thing is started, sometimes its so small that you can minimise it, and yet God is seeing something big in due time.
Every new thing has a starting point. Nothing big started big, it must have had a beginning. The word ofGod says in Zec 4:10
Zechariah 4:10 KJV 1900
For who hath despised the day of small things? For they shall rejoice, and shall see the plummet in the hand of Zerubbabel with those seven; They are the eyes of the Lord, which run to and fro through the whole earth.
There will be a rejoicing for those who despised the small beginnings when Israel started to build the temple in
Ezra 3:10 “And when the builders laid the foundation of the temple of the Lord, they set the priests in their apparel with trumpets, and the Levites the sons of Asaph with cymbals, to praise the Lord, after the ordinance of David king of Israel.”
When the commission was given, none thought that Zerubbabel and Joshua would succeed.
With God we will succeed , we do great things.
Every great thing started somewhere. Today, we are celebrating Christ. today, we are saved, we are anointed, we are blessed thriugh Christ Jesus. But sometimes we forget this Christ was once upon a time a baby.

I observed the life of Christ.

Jesus was born - Matthew 2:1 “Now when Jesus was born in Beth-lehem of Judaea in the days of Herod the king, behold, there came wise men from the east to Jerusalem,”
Jesus grew up to become an teenager who loved God - Luke 2:41-52
Jesus became an adult
Jesus grew in favor with men and with God.
Jesus was baptized, received the Holy Spirit, was filled with power and went to start his ministry.
Jesus ministry grew and affected his surroundings
Jesus went to the cross
Jesus died, was buried and resurrected the 3rd day
Jesus ascended to heaven
The Holy Spirit came and the church was born. We are now what is called the 42nd generation, born not of blood, not of the will of the flesh, not of the will of man but of God - John 1:13
The child Jesus was born in a manger but yet he was King of kings.

Paul said in 1 cor 1:28

28 And base things of the world, and things which are despised, hath God chosen, yea, and things which are not, to bring to nought things that are

Things which are despised = are not liked, taken for granted.

Reasons You Should not despise humble beginnings

Not trusting God with humble beginnings will make you lose the blessings the Lord has prepared for you.
Many destinies are destroyed because of despising humble beginnings.
The devil always knows the power of small beginnings and tries to destroy

Your Next steps

Trust God in humble beginnings.
Ezra 5:1–2 “1 Then the prophets, Haggai the prophet, and Zechariah the son of Iddo, prophesied unto the Jews that were in Judah and Jerusalem in the name of the God of Israel, even unto them. 2 Then rose up Zerubbabel the son of Shealtiel, and Jeshua the son of Jozadak, and began to build the house of God which is at Jerusalem: and with them were the prophets of God helping them.”
Every word God’s releases is trustworthy
(See also Isaiah 55:8-11)
Isaiah 55:8–11 KJV 1900
8 For my thoughts are not your thoughts, Neither are your ways my ways, saith the Lord. 9 For as the heavens are higher than the earth, So are my ways higher than your ways, And my thoughts than your thoughts. 10 For as the rain cometh down, And the snow from heaven, And returneth not thither, But watereth the earth, And maketh it bring forth and bud, That it may give seed to the sower, and bread to the eater: 11 So shall my word be that goeth forth out of my mouth: It shall not return unto me void, But it shall accomplish that which I please, And it shall prosper in the thing whereto I sent it.
Proverbs 3:5–6 KJV 1900
5 Trust in the Lord with all thine heart; And lean not unto thine own understanding. 6 In all thy ways acknowledge him, And he shall direct thy paths.
I love the story of Mary
Luke 1:26–38 KJV 1900
26 And in the sixth month the angel Gabriel was sent from God unto a city of Galilee, named Nazareth, 27 To a virgin espoused to a man whose name was Joseph, of the house of David; and the virgin’s name was Mary. 28 And the angel came in unto her, and said, Hail, thou that art highly favoured, the Lord is with thee: blessed art thou among women. 29 And when she saw him, she was troubled at his saying, and cast in her mind what manner of salutation this should be. 30 And the angel said unto her, Fear not, Mary: for thou hast found favour with God. 31 And, behold, thou shalt conceive in thy womb, and bring forth a son, and shalt call his name JESUS. 32 He shall be great, and shall be called the Son of the Highest: and the Lord God shall give unto him the throne of his father David: 33 And he shall reign over the house of Jacob for ever; and of his kingdom there shall be no end. 34 Then said Mary unto the angel, How shall this be, seeing I know not a man? 35 And the angel answered and said unto her, The Holy Ghost shall come upon thee, and the power of the Highest shall overshadow thee: therefore also that holy thing which shall be born of thee shall be called the Son of God. 36 And, behold, thy cousin Elisabeth, she hath also conceived a son in her old age: and this is the sixth month with her, who was called barren. 37 For with God nothing shall be impossible. 38 And Mary said, Behold the handmaid of the Lord; be it unto me according to thy word. And the angel departed from her.
Joseph (Jesus father) must have had faith that God was doing something in this child. Mary believed the Holy Spirit that a child will be born of Him (Mat 1.
Walk by the Spirit/Communion through grace
Zechariah 4:6–10 KJV 1900
6 Then he answered and spake unto me, saying, This is the word of the Lord unto Zerubbabel, saying, Not by might, nor by power, but by my spirit, Saith the Lord of hosts. 7 Who art thou, O great mountain? before Zerubbabel thou shalt become a plain: And he shall bring forth the headstone thereof with shoutings, crying, Grace, grace unto it. 8 Moreover the word of the Lord came unto me, saying, 9 The hands of Zerubbabel have laid the foundation of this house; His hands shall also finish it; And thou shalt know that the Lord of hosts hath sent me unto you. 10 For who hath despised the day of small things? For they shall rejoice, and shall see the plummet in the hand of Zerubbabel with those seven; They are the eyes of the Lord, which run to and fro through the whole earth.
No humble beginnings will reach their maturity without the power of the Holy Spirit.
Genesis 1:1 KJV 1900
1 In the beginning God created the heaven and the earth.
Isaiah 32:15 “Until the spirit be poured upon us from on high, And the wilderness be a fruitful field, And the fruitful field be counted for a forest.”
We will not accomplish God’s plan by carnal efforts

Conclusion/Repetition

God is starting a new thing, a new beginning, a new seed has been planted. Lets watch over it, trust Him, trust his doings, seek communion with the Holy Spirit. He will guide you, covered by God’s grace. Unmerited favor like Mary.
