(v 12) fi fi Beloved ones, do not be surprised at the re among you, occurring for your testing, as though a strange (unfamiliar) thing is happening to you. Six Certainties To Sustain Suffering Saints - 1 Peter 4:12-19 2. Sharing in Christ’s sufferings is a great honour which leads to glory. (v 13) But, to the degree you are sharing in the sufferings of Christ, be rejoicing, so that also at the revelation of his glory, you may rejoice with jubilation. (v 13) fi If children, then heirs—heirs of God and fellow heirs with Christ, provided we suffer with him in order that we may also be glori ed with him. (Romans 8:17 ESV) Six Certainties To Sustain Suffering Saints - 1 Peter 4:12-19 3. God’s Spirit of glory rests upon those who suffer for Jesus. (v 14) If you are being insulted for the name of Christ—[you are] blessed, because the Spirit of the glory and of God is resting upon you. 3 possible interpretations: 1. The Spirit gives those who are persecuted a foretaste of the future glory which is coming. 2. The glory of God is seen in those who are persecuted. (Acts 6:15 > Stephen - “his face was like … an angel”) 3. The Holy Spirit bestows additional grace to endure persecution. (Matthew 10:19-20, Mark 13:11, Luke 12:11-12) Six Certainties To Sustain Suffering Saints - 1 Peter 4:12-19 4. Suffering as a Christian provides opportunities to glorify God. (v 15-16) For let none of you suffer as a murderer, a thief, an evildoer or as a meddler. But if [one suffers] as a Christian, let him not be ashamed. But let him glorify God in this name. Maximum criminal penalties are up to 5 years imprisonment. Civil matters go through tribunals, with damages capped at $100,000. fi VIC - Change Or Supression (Conversion) Practices Prohibition Act 2021 Maximum criminal penalties are up to 10 years' imprisonment and severe nes for individuals and body corporates (which includes churches) when practices cause "serious injury" and criminal negligence is proven. It is far better to suffer now as God’s child, than to suffer eternally as God’s adversary (v 17-18) Because [it is] time for judgment to begin from the house of God. But if [it begins] first from us, what [will be] the outcome for those who do not obey the gospel of God? And if the righteous [person] with difficulty (hardship) is [being] saved, where shall the ungodly and sinful [person] appear? fi Judgement Saints Sinners Fire Puri es Destroys Suffering Temporary Eternal Six Certainties To Sustain Suffering Saints - 1 Peter 4:12-19 6. A faithful Creator controls everything and cares for your soul.
