11 On the way to Jerusalem he was passing along between Samaria and Galilee. 12 And as he entered a village, he was met by ten lepers, who stood at a distance 13 and lifted up their voices, saying, “Jesus, Master, have mercy on us.” 14 When he saw them he said to them, “Go and show yourselves to the priests.” And as they went they were cleansed. 15 Then one of them, when he saw that he was healed, turned back, praising God with a loud voice; 16 and he fell on his face at Jesus’ feet, giving him thanks. Now he was a Samaritan. 17 Then Jesus answered, “Were not ten cleansed? Where are the nine? 18 Was no one found to return and give praise to God except this foreigner?” 19 And he said to him, “Ri se and go your way; your faith has made you well.”

The miracles of Jesus provide for us, if you like, a framework for understanding the kingdom. And its all here in our passage today in Luke, this miracle which is unique to his Gospel, is seen here.
But its a framework for the basis of understanding we need in our lives. Anything built well is built on a framework which provides the basis for the thing to be built. yes it might be behind the wall, but its there
for the kingdom of God there is a framework, and yes it might be hidden behind the veil of etrnity but it certainly is there - clearly and plainly laid out in the word
JESUS MOVES INTO UNLIKELY PLACES
JESUS MOVES INTO UNLIKELY PLACES
JESUS ENTERS A VILLAGE.
JESUS ENTERS A VILLAGE.
JESUS SEE’s THE NEED
JESUS SEE’s THE NEED
JESUS DOES A MIRACLE FOR ALL OF THEM.
JESUS DOES A MIRACLE FOR ALL OF THEM.
TEN ARE HELPED, BUT ONE IS Turns back.
TEN ARE HELPED, BUT ONE IS Turns back.
Miracle framework: what are the four corners of the frame?
Heaven comes to earth and establishes a new framework for how things work in the kingdom of God.
1.Pursuit.
1.Pursuit.
11 On the way to Jerusalem he was passing along between Samaria and Galilee.
Before you had to pursue God
Now it’s the other way around
Initiative is Gods. Jesus is on the move. God is always on the move. Jesus was constantly moving, ministering, making heaven come to earth.
So we see he didnt just go tio Jerusalem, he want and others were caught up in his glory as well -
12 And as he entered a village, he was met by ten lepers, who stood at a distance
No there is a pretty significant part of the framework for Jesus miracles here:
HE WILL ALWAYS MOVE TOWARDS THOSE THAT NEED HIS HELP.
HE WILL ALWAYS MOVE TOWARDS THOSE THAT NEED HIS HELP.
The leftout, the far off, the outcast… the samaritan / The outsider
Jesus moved towards, Pursues the one who is need of his help.
12 What do you think? If a man has a hundred sheep, and one of them has gone astray, does he not leave the ninety-nine on the mountains and go in search of the one that went astray? 13 And if he finds it, truly, I say to you, he rejoices over it more than over the ninety-nine that never went astray. 14 So it is not the will of my Father who is in heaven that one of these little ones should perish.
God moves towards the hurting, the hungry, the spiritually destitue - This was his gravitational pull on the earth: he had plenty to say to the religious, but he had a particular pursuit for the ones who had no idea about the grace of God that exists for them also.
We saw this last week in the miracle of Jesus raising lazarus from the dead…. Jesus cares. And he has a particular view of whatever is getting in the way of your spiritual condition being pure in Gods sight:
He moves towards these people: The leftout, the cast out… the disenfranchised of society.
Here we see another instance of Jesus moving towards those that he would do miracles for: “on the way to jerusalem” has asignficance and its there all through the book of Luke: Jersulam represents the
Jesus is the one that can do the miraclulous: Which is heal the sick!
He will enter the villages of the sick
the homes of the hurting
the the doorways of the destitue.
11 And when the Pharisees saw this, they said to his disciples, “Why does your teacher eat with tax collectors and sinners?” 12 But when he heard it, he said, “Those who are well have no need of a physician, but those who are sick. 13 Go and learn what this means: ‘I desire mercy, and not sacrifice.’ For I came not to call the righteous, but sinners.”
2.Encounter.
2.Encounter.
He see.s them. He always knew he would see them.
They cry out… They raise their voices….
12 And as he entered a village, he was met by ten lepers, who stood at a distance 13 and lifted up their voices, saying, “Jesus, Master, have mercy on us.” 14 When he saw them he said to them, “Go and show yourselves to the priests.” And as they went they were cleansed.
When you are seen by Jesus, he will never be silent, He will always have something to say to you
6 When Jesus saw him lying there and knew that he had already been there a long time, he said to him, “Do you want to be healed?”
34 When he went ashore he saw a great crowd, and he had compassion on them, because they were like sheep without a shepherd. And he began to teach them many things.
Luke 19:41 “41 And when he drew near and saw the city, he wept over it,”
Jesus saw the ten, He saw them and then he spoke
this is the same as other places we see “he saw the crowd and had compassion on them”
Personal
Vivid
Real
Up close and personal
Not at a distance.
He called them.
Did you know that God wants you to encounter him in this way.
How? through his word and through the power of the holy spirit in us
3.Transformation
3.Transformation
14 When he saw them he said to them, “Go and show yourselves to the priests.” And as they went they were cleansed.
What was it about the instruction?
It was an opportunity through their obedience that their miracle would come to pass…. and it did
**with any miracle: there will be an obedience element to it. Something he asks you to do, something that requires a letting Go, a turning away from, some sort of CLEANSING if you like**
(in this case, healing, cleansing, a total revolution in all instances)
So why just one?
JESUS WILL HELP US, BUT HE ACTUALLY WANTS TO CHANGE US
JESUS WILL HELP US, BUT HE ACTUALLY WANTS TO CHANGE US
some were helped, one was changed
one turned and was praying God
Not helped, healed.
Healed and hold. Saved.
Totally changed.
Forever being changed and
We now are being transformed by the renewing of our minds.
THIS WAS NOT ABOUT EXTERNAL RENOVATION: IT WAS ABOUT TOTAL TRANSFORMATION

The man had no business talking to, being healed by, changed by… a jewish rabbi.
We have no business being healed by, changed by… and in relationship with … a jewish rabbi JESUS FROM NAZARETH,
But that is the miracle of salvation.
