Proof (v.25)

The first thing that Jesus offers the Jews is as validation of his Messianic identity is that “I told you...” There has already been several occasions where Jesus has in so many words let the people know who He was and what He came to do. In John 1 Lamb of God, John 5:36 he tells them the Father sent him and he has work to do, in John 6 he claims to be the Bread from Heaven, in John 7 he is the heavenly scholar and didn’t deny he was the Christ, in John 8 He is the I AM, in John 9 He is the Son of God. Which raises the question, “Do you believe what he told you?”
The he brings out the second point of vlaidation
Jesus always backs up his word with action. (Run)

Predestined (v.26)

The believing was based on them being his sheep, not the other way around.
