Thanksgiving

Big Idea: What we have in the Lord’s Supper should grow our gratitude so that we overflow with it.

As a church we share in what we have received.

Pharisee and the Tax Collector (Luke 18:11 “11 The Pharisee, standing by himself, prayed thus: ‘God, I thank you that I am not like other men, extortioners, unjust, adulterers, or even like this tax collector.” )
Gratitude is not in what you have but what someone has done for you.
The Lord’s Supper is not about your own enjoyment or your status before others.

We show the unity we have in Christ.

Jesus last thanks
Gratitude makes sure we aren’t above someone else.
The Lord’s Supper is about what Christ has done for us.
His body broken - The Passover Lamb

We show the care we have in Christ.

Do you say “It could be worse”?
Gratitude isn’t about Polyanna type positivity but how much we need grace.
Christ took the worst so we can go through life with hope even when things are bad.
The new covenant
Our worst is not what has happened to us but our sin. We have received not only forgiveness but equal status AND tough love.
So wait for one another and let’s value what Christ has done.
Notice what others do for you.
Remind one another what Christ has done for all of us.
Look forward to the kingdom.
