Call to Worship

Psalm 100:1–4 ESV

Make a joyful noise to the Lord, all the earth! Serve the Lord with gladness! Come into his presence with singing! Know that the Lord, he is God! It is he who made us, and we are his; we are his people, and the sheep of his pasture. Enter his gates with thanksgiving, and his courts with praise! Give thanks to him; bless his name!

O LORD,

We come before You this day thankful for all that You have done for us. You have blessed us with everything which we need for life and godliness in Christ Jesus. May we, as the psalmist exhorts, make a joyful noise to You this day in our worship. May we serve You with a glad heart. May we be convinced in our hearts that You alone are God, that You are the One who created us to be Your image bearers; may we bear Your image well. May we bless Your name this day as we express our thanksgiving and praise.

In Jesus’ name. Amen.

Pastor’s Prayer

O Holy Father,

We have sought to bless Your name today in our worship. May You truly be blessed.

Lord, we confess to You that we often stumble and fall in our walk with Christ. We are easily distracted and then lose our way for a time. But You, the faithful shepherd, always come and bring us back to the true way. When we confess our sins, and our failures, You are always faithful and just to forgive us and to cleanse us. For this we give thanks with a grateful heart.

Lord, we pray for those among us who are struggling with various things. We pray for our sister Glenna who is still recovering from her surgery — we pray that she will find strength and comfort in You.

We pray for our sister Jodi, who is recovering from open-heart surgery. She has a very long road to recovery, and we pray that You would provide the encouragement she needs to persevere through this extended trial. Lord, there needs to be so much change in her life; she not only needs to recover from this surgery, but she needs to learn a new lifestyle. She needs to learn to handle stress and anxiety, and she needs a less stressful job. We pray for Your provision in this.

Lord, there are others who are hurting. We think of Lloyd and his constant pain issues, and for Sue as she ministers to him. We think of Michelle Allen who is going through physical therapy, which can be pretty painful. We think of the many who have lost loved ones.

Father, Your word says that You are the God of all comfort who comforts us as we go through various trials, so that we, in turn, can comfort others as they go through those same types of trials. May we, as an assembly, become a group of comforters — people who like Barnabas are known for they way You use us to encourage others.

We commit these things to You in Jesus’ blessed name. Amen.
