Have you ever forgotten an anniversary or birthday?
The awkward silence, the disappointment, the empty-handedness Lol
it’s amazing how forgetting something important can change the ENTIRE tone of a relationship...
Depending on the person and the relationship, this could be quite an unforgettable event…
Now imagine forgetting what God has done for you...
How does that impact both parties?
How does that impact God?
How does that impact you?
Gratitude and thanksgiving begin with remembering…
Thanksgiving:
isn’t just a holiday…
isn’t just a season of the year…
Thanksgiving and Godly Gratitude is a habit of remembering.
Remembering what?
All of the goodness of God that has filled your life up until now…and even your future!
All of the hard things that SEEMED INSURMOUNTABLE at the time or even IMPOSSIBLE, but now you look back at them and you see the faithfulness of God through the whole situation…
but, we are prone to forget…
we begin reminiscing of Egypt all over again…
Our thoughts begin to live in Egypt and our hearts are facing towards the city like Lot…
We may find ourselves longing to eat the onions and leeks of Egypt.
5 We remember the free fish we ate in Egypt, along with the cucumbers, melons, leeks, onions, and garlic. 6 But now our appetite is gone; there’s nothing to look at but this manna!”
How ridiculous…
People be peopling…
They forget God and all of His goodness…
Opening Question:
What would your life look like if you never forgot God’s goodness?

Key Observations:
Psalm 103:
David COMMANDS his soul to “bless the Lord” and “do not forget”
sometimes gratitude requires talking to yourself!
Bless the Lord – Gratitude is an act of worship.
“Bless” = praise; filled with strength; adored
“all that it within me”
the inner part of a person as a place of thoughts and feelings, and conscience
with everything you’ve got, BLESS THE LORD
Praise His name
Give Him glory
Express your Gratitude in Awe and Adoration
Bless His Holy name
We belong to The Most High God, YHWH
We GET to worship The Most High God
He is Our Father.
Jesus is Our Older Brother
HE is HOLY, HOLY, HOLY.
BLESS HIS HOLY NAME
Name = not merely what you are called, but also your reputation
your standing
OUR GOD’s STANDING, STANDS ABOVE ALL
There is NOTHING and NO ONE beside Him.
There is no one like Him.
He is the ONLY ONE OF HIS KIND.
David COMMANDS his soul:
Do not forget– Forgetfulness is the enemy of thankfulness.
Forgetfulness leads to pride
it is often caused BY pride
Not seeing a need or the worth of remembering…
Remembering leads to worship.
Do not forget ALL HIS BENEFITS
Benefits listed:
Forgiveness
ALL your iniquities...
How many sins have you committed in your life, before and after Christ?
He forgives them ALL.
healing
ALL your diseases
#1 disease = your sin.
heals physical ailments as He deems good for your development into the image of Jesus.
Travis was healed due to people coming to Jesus and asking Him to heal our brother Travis.
He deemed it good. For His glory.
Sometimes He gets great glory from healing physically.
Sometimes He gets GREATER glory from allowing for suffering like Jesus and the Jesus character it develops…
redemption
He redeems your life for the Pit
Death
Destruction
WE’D BETTER NOT FORGET THIS…
Where would you be right now, had it not been for Jesus REDEEMING YOUR LIFE FROM THE PIT??
“he crowns you with faithful love and compassion”
“crowns” = bestows a blessing
Bestows upon you royal honor and responsibility
“crowns you with faithful love (chesed)”
love (chesed) = loyalty, obligation, faithfulness, goodness, graciousness
“crowns you with compassion”
“He saisfies you…”
satisfaction
He satisfies your desire with:
“good things”
Everythigng that is GOOD FOR YOU, HE WILL NOW HOLD BACK!
and when they are GOOD FOR YOU, you will be satisfied.
“your youth is renewed…like an eagle”
You will be FULL OF LIFE.
