Living as a Temple- The Benefits of the Presence of God in Your Life

The Purpose of the Temple was the same as the Tabernacle - and that is for God’s presence to be in the midst of His People
The Purpose of the Temple is the Presence
In the ancient times this separated the people of God from every other people groups and their gods
Ancient god’s were territorial - They didn’t travel with people, they lived in their temples and that was all- In Exodus God says, Exodus 12:12
Exodus 12:12 NLT
On that night I will pass through the land of Egypt and strike down every firstborn son and firstborn male animal in the land of Egypt. I will execute judgment against all the gods of Egypt, for I am the Lord!
God desires to live with His peole- Jesus makes that Possible for believers
John 14:2–3 ESV
In my Father’s house are many rooms. If it were not so, would I have told you that I go to prepare a place for you? And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again and will take you to myself, that where I am you may be also.
For God is was always dwelling with His people whom He loves

The Temple is the Place of Presence- The Presence of God in your life sets you apart

2 Chronicles 6:2 NLT
Now I have built a glorious Temple for you, a place where you can live forever!”
Your Life is the Temple
Acts 17:24–25 ESV
The God who made the world and everything in it, being Lord of heaven and earth, does not live in temples made by man, nor is he served by human hands, as though he needed anything, since he himself gives to all mankind life and breath and everything.
1 Corinthians 6:19–20 NLT
Don’t you realize that your body is the temple of the Holy Spirit, who lives in you and was given to you by God? You do not belong to yourself, for God bought you with a high price. So you must honor God with your body.
A life that is a temple of the Lord is going to be a place that is prepare for Him
A Life that is separate and set apart for the Lord
A Consecrated life
Joshua 6:19 NLT
Everything made from silver, gold, bronze, or iron is sacred to the Lord and must be brought into his treasury.”
It is sacred unto the Lord- no divided devotion
Matthew 6:24 ESV
“No one can serve two masters, for either he will hate the one and love the other, or he will be devoted to the one and despise the other. You cannot serve God and money.

The Spirit- is What is separates believers from everyone else-

1 Corinthians 2:12 ESV
Now we have received not the spirit of the world, but the Spirit who is from God, that we might understand the things freely given us by God.
Moses understood the importance of the Presence of God
Exodus 33:16 NLT
How will anyone know that you look favorably on me—on me and on your people—if you don’t go with us? For your presence among us sets your people and me apart from all other people on the earth.”
Exodus 34:8–9 ESV
And Moses quickly bowed his head toward the earth and worshiped. And he said, “If now I have found favor in your sight, O Lord, please let the Lord go in the midst of us, for it is a stiff-necked people, and pardon our iniquity and our sin, and take us for your inheritance.”
The Presence of God makes the Temple- and The Presence of God makes the People

The Temple is the Place of Praise & Worship

2 Chronicles 6:1–4 ESV
Then Solomon said, “The Lord has said that he would dwell in thick darkness. But I have built you an exalted house, a place for you to dwell in forever.” Then the king turned around and blessed all the assembly of Israel, while all the assembly of Israel stood. And he said, “Blessed be the Lord, the God of Israel, who with his hand has fulfilled what he promised with his mouth to David my father, saying,

We live as a temple of the Lord when worship moves beyond just our words and into our actions

Romans 12:1–2 NKJV
I beseech you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, that you present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable to God, which is your reasonable service. And do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, that you may prove what is that good and acceptable and perfect will of God.

The Temple is the Place of Promise

2 Chronicles 6:14–17 ESV
and said, “O Lord, God of Israel, there is no God like you, in heaven or on earth, keeping covenant and showing steadfast love to your servants who walk before you with all their heart, who have kept with your servant David my father what you declared to him. You spoke with your mouth, and with your hand have fulfilled it this day. Now therefore, O Lord, God of Israel, keep for your servant David my father what you have promised him, saying, ‘You shall not lack a man to sit before me on the throne of Israel, if only your sons pay close attention to their way, to walk in my law as you have walked before me.’ Now therefore, O Lord, God of Israel, let your word be confirmed, which you have spoken to your servant David.

God doesn’t separate His glory for your life

Isaiah 60:1–3 ESV
Arise, shine, for your light has come, and the glory of the Lord has risen upon you. For behold, darkness shall cover the earth, and thick darkness the peoples; but the Lord will arise upon you, and his glory will be seen upon you. And nations shall come to your light, and kings to the brightness of your rising.
God’s glory on your life is evident to others, His blessing are visible upon His people
Joseph’s life attest to this
Genesis 39:2–4 NLT
The Lord was with Joseph, so he succeeded in everything he did as he served in the home of his Egyptian master. Potiphar noticed this and realized that the Lord was with Joseph, giving him success in everything he did. This pleased Potiphar, so he soon made Joseph his personal attendant. He put him in charge of his entire household and everything he owned.
Deuteronomy 28:10 NLT
Then all the nations of the world will see that you are a people claimed by the Lord, and they will stand in awe of you.
Psalm 126:1–3 ESV
When the Lord restored the fortunes of Zion, we were like those who dream. Then our mouth was filled with laughter, and our tongue with shouts of joy; then they said among the nations, “The Lord has done great things for them.” The Lord has done great things for us; we are glad.

God’s Presence Brings favor

Psalm 5:12 ESV
For you bless the righteous, O Lord; you cover him with favor as with a shield.

You Are the Temple:

1 Corinthians 3:16 ESV
Do you not know that you are God’s temple and that God’s Spirit dwells in you?
for the World you are the place where the Presence of God dwells
1 Corinthians 6:19–20 NLT
Don’t you realize that your body is the temple of the Holy Spirit, who lives in you and was given to you by God? You do not belong to yourself, for God bought you with a high price. So you must honor God with your body.
My body is a temple, where the very presence of God Dwells-
The Ark represented the presence of God with His people- if the Ark was here today people would treat it like a relic-
They would treat it as if it had powers
they would God and pay for picture of It
Not realizing that the very presence that was in that Art Dwells in the believer!
The Ark would become an idle-
People make everything an idle-
Ministries
Movements of God
When they just need to be a temple of the Holy Spirit

How to be A Temple?

2 Chronicles 6:18–20 NLT
“But will God really live on earth among people? Why, even the highest heavens cannot contain you. How much less this Temple I have built! Nevertheless, listen to my prayer and my plea, O Lord my God. Hear the cry and the prayer that your servant is making to you. May you watch over this Temple day and night, this place where you have said you would put your name. May you always hear the prayers I make toward this place.

You decide How God moves and uses your life-

2 Timothy 2:15–21 NLT
Work hard so you can present yourself to God and receive his approval. Be a good worker, one who does not need to be ashamed and who correctly explains the word of truth. Avoid worthless, foolish talk that only leads to more godless behavior. This kind of talk spreads like cancer, as in the case of Hymenaeus and Philetus. They have left the path of truth, claiming that the resurrection of the dead has already occurred; in this way, they have turned some people away from the faith. But God’s truth stands firm like a foundation stone with this inscription: “The Lord knows those who are his,” and “All who belong to the Lord must turn away from evil.” In a wealthy home some utensils are made of gold and silver, and some are made of wood and clay. The expensive utensils are used for special occasions, and the cheap ones are for everyday use. If you keep yourself pure, you will be a special utensil for honorable use. Your life will be clean, and you will be ready for the Master to use you for every good work.
2 Chronicles 6:16 NLT
“And now, O Lord, God of Israel, carry out the additional promise you made to your servant David, my father. For you said to him, ‘If your descendants guard their behavior and faithfully follow my Law as you have done, one of them will always sit on the throne of Israel.’
