Colosenses 4:2-6
Colosenses 4:2-6
PRAY… (last week). Pray for leaders. Now he moves to the church’s responsibility.
JESUS HAD unbelievers in his family.
It’s hard witnessing to loved ones - they’ve seen your past, and there is a relational connection there; there is a fear that relationship will break..
Last week. CONDUCT and SPEECH does not relate with what they believe. CHRISTIANS ARE JUDGED EVERY DAY BY ACTIONS AND WORDS. It’s 2 things that are the most
Paul pleads for wisdom in Colossians 1:9-12.
Wisdom - positive witness
Colossians 4:5-6
Conductas con sabiduria
Walk in wisdom…
Choosing right. Knowing what to do in the right given moment. This is an ability.
If someone asks you to do something, wisdom will be something you know how to use in that moment. It’s like google. “que debo hacer con esto…” que ingredientes necesito… “como llego a…” Sabiduría que viene por medio de la lectura bíblica, nos ayuda a hacer esto.
WHAT DOES IT LOOK LIKE AND GOD GIVES IT FREELY
James 3:17: "But the wisdom that comes from heaven is first of all pure; then peace-loving, considerate, submissive, full of mercy and good fruit, impartial and sincere."
James 1:5: "If any of you lacks wisdom, you should ask God, who gives generously to all without finding fault, and it will be given to you."
Q = Does Paul mean use of time as in time running out because Jesus is coming, or do all things in wisdom?
Why acting? They see, they believe.
No matter how you fake Christianity in front of others, your family members SEE who you are.
STICK TO COLOSSIANS 1 description of WISDOM.
Colossians and Philemon Exegesis and Exposition
should be recalled that the use of “wisdom” in 1:9–10 is likely related to the thought here, since there the hearers being “filled with … all wisdom and spiritual understanding” has its goal in them “walking worthy of the Lord … in every good work?… bearing fruit … and increasing in the knowledge of God.”
PLEASING TO HIM =
Walking worthy - generates good conduct
Fruit - Fruits of the spirit
Increasing in God’s knowledge
This means that having God’s knowledge produces fruits, and worthy way of walking, producing more walking in God’s knowledge.
Hable con gracia
Why speaking? They hear, they see what you believe. Christians are called to speak grace, love, and not condemn others. Not destroy others.
Eph. 4:29 - Fit for the moment. Your family conversations will make others see your hipocrisy. Our hipocrisy is most seen by others by the words that reside at the tip of our tongue.
Giving grace is benefiting others that listen.
ON the other hand. Say.
Matthew 5:13 - salt and its seasoning.
Salt : 1) preserve food. 2) flavor.
Their words should attract, like food attracts. Truth. Kindness. Patience. Edify. Sometimes, just SILENCE.
Responding to others - Others may persecute you. Others may act, or speak against you. Others may tempt you. But you need to know how to answer, in both conduct and words.
Live to please God with your actions and words, and allow others to see.
Speaking that inextricably aligns with the speech of Christians.
Col. 4:6 - Knowing what to say when someone asks, or says something to you.
CONCLUSION:
Speech - FORGIVENESS not CONDEMNATION - Matthew 27:12-14 - Jesus stayed silent. On the contrary, prayer. Father, forgive them, for they do not what they do.
Actions — HUMILITY and trusting GOD; it was not PRIDE - 1 Peter 2:23 - Jesus’ humility expressed silence, obdience, love amidst suffeirng.
Look to the cross. Jesus’ actions admist hostility. Pleasing to God.
