Habakkuk 1:12–2:20
Moneyball
Transition: If God truly does have a plan, then it seems sometimes that the plan is just bad:

1. “God, your plan stinks!”

Habakkuk acknowledged God’s plan to use the Chaldeans for judgment (Habakkuk 1:12)
However, Habakkuk thinks it’s a bad plan, since the Chaldeans are worse than Judah (Habakkuk 1:13-17)
Today, we might agree that God has a plan, that he’s working to restore the world, but we might think the plan stinks

2. If you could see what God sees, God’s plan would make sense (develop inductively)

God reminds Habakkuk that his timing and Habakkuk’s timing are not the same (Habakkuk 2:2-3)
God promises the unrighteous will die, while the righteous will live by faith (Habakkuk 2:4)
Eventually the Chaldeans will fall and God’s glory will reign on the earth (Habakkuk 2:5-20)

Main Idea: God’s plan is perfect, but we’re often too small to see it

Conclusion: God’s track record is impeccable. His wisdom displayed in the gospel is unmatched. Let’s trust him.
