Scripture: Luke 2:10–11 (CSB) Candle: Angel Candle — Love
Luke 2:10–11 CSB
10 But the angel said to them, “Don’t be afraid, for look, I proclaim to you good news of great joy that will be for all the people: 11 Today in the city of David a Savior was born for you, who is the Messiah, the Lord.
Candle Lighting Script
Reader 1: Today we light the Angel Candle, the Candle of Love. Love didn’t stay distant—love came down.
Reader 2 (Scripture): “I proclaim to you good news… Today a Savior was born for you.” (Luke 2:10–11 CSB)
Reader 1: This candle reminds us that the manger was love made visible.
(Light the Hope, Peace, Joy, and Love Candles)
All: Jesus, fill our hearts with Your love. Amen.
Illustration / Story — “The King in a Barn”
Imagine a king arriving in your rural community—not in a motorcade or private jet, but in a neighbor’s drafty barn. No glamour. No attention. Just humility.
That’s what Jesus did.
He chose the manger so no one would be too poor, too weak, or too broken to approach Him.
Devotional Reflection
Love came down—not in a palace, but among animals and shepherds. God didn’t wait for us to come to Him. He came to us.
The manger shows us:
God comes close
God enters our everyday lives
God loves us as we are
This love changes everything.
Discussion Questions

How have you experienced God’s love this year?
Who do you need to show Christlike love to this week?
Weekly Challenge
