Matthew 5:9 “9 Blessed are the peacemakers, for they will be called sons of God.”
What is a Peacemaker?
In order to know lets look at the perfect peacemaker.
Jesus Christ is the perfect peacemaker.
Now I do say this because it is the good Sunday School answer.
I can prove it look at this passage of scripture.
Colossians 1:19–20 CSB
19 For God was pleased to have all his fullness dwell in him, 20 and through him to reconcile everything to himself, whether things on earth or things in heaven, by making peace through his blood, shed on the cross.
What did Jesus reconcile
Romans 5:9 CSB
9 How much more then, since we have now been justified by his blood, will we be saved through him from wrath.
1 John 2:1–2 CSB
1 My little children, I am writing you these things so that you may not sin. But if anyone does sin, we have an advocate with the Father—Jesus Christ the righteous one. 2 He himself is the atoning sacrifice for our sins, and not only for ours, but also for those of the whole world.
Jesus the atoned Peacemaker.
That is what a peacemaker is!
How do I be a peacemaker?
Share the gospel
Letting people know that through Jesus they can have peace with GOD the Father.
But doesn’t share the gospel bring conflict?
We are to be Peacemakers NOT Peacekeepers.
What is the differents?
Story of being a kid and the sound of a belt clearing belt loops.
That was a peacemaker but not a peacekeeper.
Jesus was a peacemaker but not a peacekeeper.
Matthew 23:25–33 CSB
25 “Woe to you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! You clean the outside of the cup and dish, but inside they are full of greed and self-indulgence. 26 Blind Pharisee! First clean the inside of the cup, so that the outside of it may also become clean. 27 “Woe to you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! You are like whitewashed tombs, which appear beautiful on the outside, but inside are full of the bones of the dead and every kind of impurity. 28 In the same way, on the outside you seem righteous to people, but inside you are full of hypocrisy and lawlessness. 29 “Woe to you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! You build the tombs of the prophets and decorate the graves of the righteous, 30 and you say, ‘If we had lived in the days of our ancestors, we wouldn’t have taken part with them in shedding the prophets’ blood.’ 31 So you testify against yourselves that you are descendants of those who murdered the prophets. 32 Fill up, then, the measure of your ancestors’ sins! 33 “Snakes! Brood of vipers! How can you escape being condemned to hell?
Was Jesus keeping the peace? (NO)
Was Jesus being a peacemaker? (YES)
Matthew 23:33 “33 “Snakes! Brood of vipers! How can you escape being condemned to hell?”
He is asking this because they have rejected the Peacemaker and without Jesus there is no escape form hell.
Jesus is trying to make a way for them to escape by telling them the hard truth.
He my have not been keeper the peace but you can be sure that he was make a way for peace for those who believed.
So are you a Peacemaker?
Look at what the rest of the verse says.
Matthew 5:9 CSB
9 Blessed are the peacemakers, for they will be called sons of God.

Those whose lives reflect the ethics of Jesus will be clearly identified as children of God

Romans 8:14 CSB
