Primary Text: Isaiah 9:2–7; Luke 1:26–33

BIG IDEA:

Christ is the fulfillment of God’s ancient promise — He is heaven’s guarantee that God always keeps His Word.

INTRO / HOOK:

Christmas is full of promises — “I’ll be home,” “The package will arrive,” “We’ll get together soon.” Some are kept. Many are not. But God never made a promise He did not keep. Christmas proves it.

POINT 1 — The Certainty of God’s Promise (He Spoke It)

Isaiah 9:2–7
God promised deliverance when Israel was in darkness.
Prophecy is not prediction — it is pre-written history.
Every hope of man hangs on the reliability of God’s Word.
Illustration: A child waiting at the window for Mom or Dad to come home — the certainty of the promise shapes the waiting.
Application: Advent calls us to trust God’s promises now — even when circumstances look dark.

POINT 2 — The Continuity of God’s Plan (He Sustained It)

Genesis 3:15 → Abraham → David → Exile → The Remnant
The scarlet thread of redemption runs through Scripture.
Sometimes God seems silent, but He is never still.
Promises may be delayed, but they are never denied.
Subpoints: A. The people changed — but God’s plan didn’t. B. The kings failed — but God’s covenant didn’t. C. The world resisted — but God’s purposes didn’t.
Illustration: A GPS recalculating — humans may wander, but God keeps the route open.
Application: Your life may not look like it’s following the script — but God’s plan still stands.

POINT 3 — The Completion of God’s Purpose (He Sent Him)

Luke 1:30–33
Jesus is the “Yes and Amen” to every promise of God (2 Cor 1:20).
Christmas is God moving from promise to Person.
God didn’t send an idea, a prophet, or a philosophy — He sent His Son.
Application: Because Christ came once, we can trust He will come again.

INVITATION:

“God kept His promise by sending Christ. Will you trust Him to keep His promise to save, forgive, and restore you today?”
