WEEK 2 – THE CANDLE OF PEACE

Theme: Christ Our Peace — Reconciliation Through Christ

Reader 1: Today we light the Candle of Peace. Jesus came not to offer a peaceful feeling, but to bring reconciliation between God and humanity.

Reader 2: Through His cross, He tore down the wall between us and God.

Scripture Readings

Isaiah 53:5 “5 But He was wounded for our transgressions, He was bruised for our iniquities; The chastisement for our peace was upon Him, And by His stripes we are healed.”

Luke 2:13–14 “13 And suddenly there was with the angel a multitude of the heavenly host praising God and saying: 14 “Glory to God in the highest, And on earth peace, goodwill toward men!””

Ephesians 2:14–18 “14 For He Himself is our peace, who has made both one, and has broken down the middle wall of separation, 15 having abolished in His flesh the enmity, that is, the law of commandments contained in ordinances, so as to create in Himself one new man from the two, thus making peace, 16 and that He might reconcile them both to God in one body through the cross, thereby putting to death the enmity. 17 And He came and preached peace to you who were afar off and to those who were near. 18 For through Him we both have access by one Spirit to the Father.”

Prince of Peace, thank You for bringing us near through Your sacrifice. Let Your peace rule in our hearts and homes. Amen.
