Psalm 2 / Revelation 19:16
I don’t have to crown Him
I don’t have to crown Him
Psalm 2 “Why do the nations rage and the peoples plot in vain? The kings of the earth set themselves, and the rulers take counsel together, against the Lord and against his Anointed, saying, “Let us burst their bonds apart and cast away their cords from us.” He who sits in the heavens laughs; the Lord holds them in derision. Then he will speak to them in his wrath, and terrify them in his fury, saying, “As for me, I have set my King on Zion, my holy hill.” I will tell of the decree: The Lord said to me, “You are my Son; today I have begotten you. Ask of me, and I will make the nations your heritage, and the ends of the earth your possession. You shall break them with a rod of iron and dash them in pieces like a potter’s vessel.” Now therefore, O kings, be wise; be warned, O rulers of the earth. Serve the Lord with fear, and rejoice with trembling. Kiss the Son, lest he be angry, and you perish in the way, for his wrath is quickly kindled. Blessed are all who take refuge in him.”
Philippians 2:5–11 “Have this mind among yourselves, which is yours in Christ Jesus, who, though he was in the form of God, [Jesus] did not count equality with God a thing to be grasped, but emptied himself, by taking the form of a servant, being born in the likeness of men. And being found in human form, he humbled himself by becoming obedient to the point of death, even death on a cross. Therefore God has highly exalted him and bestowed on him the name that is above every name, so that at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, in heaven and on earth and under the earth, and every tongue confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father.”
Luke 23:33–38 “And when they came to the place that is called The Skull, there they crucified him, and the criminals, one on his right and one on his left. 34 And Jesus said, “Father, forgive them, for they know not what they do.” And they cast lots to divide his garments. 35 And the people stood by, watching, but the rulers scoffed at him, saying, “He saved others; let him save himself, if he is the Christ of God, his Chosen One!” 36 The soldiers also mocked him, coming up and offering him sour wine 37 and saying, “If you are the King of the Jews, save yourself!” 38 There was also an inscription over him, “This is the King of the Jews.”
Reason #1 I am thankfulf that Jesus is King: I don’t have to crown Him
The reality of and everlasting nature of the reign of Christ is established by God. There is no amount of effort on our part required. It is ours to recognize Him as who He is: King of All, and King of Kings, that is to say the one king above them all.
I don’t have to defend Him
I don’t have to defend Him
Matthew 26:51–53 “And behold, one of those who were with Jesus stretched out his hand and drew his sword and struck the servant of the high priest and cut off his ear. 52 Then Jesus said to him, “Put your sword back into its place. For all who take the sword will perish by the sword. 53 Do you think that I cannot appeal to my Father, and he will at once send me more than twelve legions of angels?”
John 10:31–38 “31 The Jews picked up stones again to stone him. 32 Jesus answered them, “I have shown you many good works from the Father; for which of them are you going to stone me?” 33 The Jews answered him, “It is not for a good work that we are going to stone you but for blasphemy, because you, being a man, make yourself God.” 34 Jesus answered them, “Is it not written in your Law, ‘I said, you are gods’? 35 If he called them gods to whom the word of God came—and Scripture cannot be broken— 36 do you say of him whom the Father consecrated and sent into the world, ‘You are blaspheming,’ because I said, ‘I am the Son of God’? 37 If I am not doing the works of my Father, then do not believe me; 38 but if I do them, even though you do not believe me, believe the works, that you may know and understand that the Father is in me and I am in the Father.””
Reason #2 I am thankfulf that Jesus is King: I don’t have to defend Him
The truth is, and my stated claim, that any fair and complete look into the historical acts and teachings, much less the miraculous works, testified to both in biblical texts and external historical sources can result in only one logical conclusion: Jesus IS who the Bible says He is. He is King. He is King of Kings and Lord of Lords, and as such does not need my help in defending his position. It is mine to witness to this. Jesus is King.
I can trust Him
I can trust Him
Matthew 11:28–30 “Come to me, all who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. 29 Take my yoke upon you, and learn from me, for I am gentle and lowly in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. 30 For my yoke is easy, and my burden is light.””
John 6:37 “All that the Father gives me will come to me, and whoever comes to me I will never cast out.”
Reason #3 I am thankful that Jesus is King: I can trust Him.
There has never been such a king who is perfect in love, in justice and in mercy.
There has never been such a king who has promised and has the ability to maintain these traits.
Not only can I trust Him, I do trust Him. I trust Him with my life, my soul, my family, with the governance of this world, and the realities of eternity.
If in your heart the King of Kings is calling, so can you. Trust Him and be eternally saved, then tell others about it.
