Background
Background
The book of Psalm has many authors and divisions. Our focus tonight will be that of the Songs of Ascent, the division of Psalm 120-134. These songs were song by families and communities on their route to celebrate the three required Jewish festivals, known as the Shalosh Regalim are Passover (Pesach), Shavuot (Feast of Weeks), and Sukkot (Feast of Tabernacles)

Anointing Oil
Anointing Oil
Psalm 133:2 “It is like the precious oil on the head, running down on the beard, on the beard of Aaron, running down on the collar of his robes!”
Compares the unity of believers to the holy anointing oil used in the consecration of Aaron, the first high priest (ex 30:22) a sacred mix of olive oil and aromatic spices, used exclusively for setting apart priests and holy objectives for God’s service
Refreshing Grace
Refreshing Grace
Psalm 133:3 “It is like the dew of Hermon, which falls on the mountains of Zion! For there the Lord has commanded the blessing, life forevermore.”
When God’s people live in unity, His presence descends upon them like the dew from Hermon upon Zion—bringing renewal, peace, and eternal blessing.
Unity without verity is not better than conspiracy.
John Trapp
