Dear Friends, I’m excited to be writing to you today. The team at RHB asked me to share a personal letter with you during our biggest sale of the year, and I gladly agreed because I want as many men as possible to read our new title, The Redeemed Man. I don’t say this lightly: of the 125 books I’ve edited or co-edited in my life, I believe this is the best of them all. It is far more thorough than my own little book for men, as it has chapters that relate to, and with God’s blessing, can transform every major area of your life as a man—including your spiritual life, marriage, fathering, work, friendships, faith and repentance, Christ-centeredness, evangelism, citizenship, perseverance, health, growth, retirement years, and death. I am praying and trusting that the Lord may be pleased to use this book to awaken, grow, and strengthen men in Christ in remarkable ways. I’m hoping that we can get at least 100,000 copies into the hands of men in the next six months—fathers, sons, pastors, young men, older men, single men, small men’s groups, and whole churches. Brothers, this is a book to read, re-read, and then get copies to give to other men. It is written by exemplary pastors and teachers who I know well and respect deeply for their spiritual maturity and life in Christ, and best of all, it is full of Christ, full of Scripture, and full of the kind of practical, heart-searching truth that men everywhere desperately need on how to live to God’s glory in every area of life. As part of our biggest sale of the year, the team at RHB has the following offerings — and I should mention that the first printing is already nearing sellout, so now is an ideal time to secure your copies: • Single copies are 30% off the regular sale price of $14 • Ten-packs are 30% off the regular sale price of $120 • Bundle it with How to Lead Your Family for 30% off the regular sale price of $22 I would encourage you to pick up a copy for yourself—and then a handful or more as a year-end gift for the men in your life: your church, your small group, your sons, your brothers, the men you mentor, and anyone you want to see grow in maturity in Christ. And while you’re on the site, the RHB team also asked me to remind you that everything is 30% off of our regular sale prices all week long—no code needed. Brothers, please pray with me that the Lord will use this book mightily in your life and in the lives of men around you. And may He raise up a generation of redeemed, steadfast, humble, mature, and holy men of God who live all of life before His face and for His glory. Warmly in Christ, also on behalf of my co-editors, Rick Phillips and Paul Smalley, Joel R. Beeke -- heritagebooks.org | @reformationheritagebooks

A Prayer before Hearing the Word

Heavenly Father, eternal and merciful God: we acknowledge and confess before your divine majesty that we are poor miserable sinners, conceived and born in sin and corruption, prone to all evil, and unfit for any good. By our sinful life, we have continually transgressed your holy commandments, provoked your wrath against us, and incurred your just judgment unto eternal death. But, O Lord, we repent in sorrow that we have thus offended you, we condemn ourselves and our iniquities, and we implore you mercifully to help us in our wretchedness and sorrow. Have mercy on us, therefore, O most gracious God and Father, and pardon all our sins, only for the sake of the righteousness of your dear Son, Jesus Christ our Lord.

And grant to us hereafter the grace of your Holy Spirit, that he may teach us heartily to know our unrighteousness and make us to so abhor ourselves that sin may be slain in us, and that we may arise in the newness of life and in this way produce the fruits of holiness and righteousness with which, for Christ’s sake alone, you are well pleased.

Grant also that we may rightly understand your holy word, that we may learn to withdraw our confidence entirely from all creatures and to put all our trust in you only. May our old man, with all his sins, be daily crucified more and more that we may present ourselves as living sacrifices to the honor of your holy name, the edification of your church, through Jesus Christ, our only Savior, who taught us to pray: Our Father in heaven, hallowed be your name, your kingdom come, your will be done on earth as in heaven. Give us today our daily bread. Forgive us our debts, as we forgive our debtors. Lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from the evil one. Amen.1
