🙏 A Heart Overflowing: From Gratitude to Generosity
  "What is the first thing you think of when you hear the word 'gift'?" (Maybe a birthday, a holiday, or something you were given.) We love receiving gifts!
 * Acknowledge the Source: The Bible tells us that our life, our breath, and everything good we have is a gift from God. That realization is the starting point for our topic: Gratitude.
 * The Main Scripture:
2 Corinthians 9:11–12 ESV
11 You will be enriched in every way to be generous in every way, which through us will produce thanksgiving to God. 12 For the ministry of this service is not only supplying the needs of the saints but is also overflowing in many thanksgivings to God.
 Our journey today is simple: We will see how saying "Thank You, God" naturally moves us to saying "Here, I share this with you." A grateful heart is an open hand.
quotes from luther and spurgeon
II. Part 1: The Root of Gratitude
 Gratitude is recognizing what we have.
   * It's not about comparing ourselves to others. It's about looking at our own blessings—the roof over our head, the food on our table, the people who love us.

Psalm 103:2 ESV
Bless the Lord, O my soul, and forget not all his benefits,

   Think of a garden. Gratitude is pulling out the weeds of worry and complaint, so the beautiful flowers of God’s goodness can be seen.
 * Point 2: The Greatest Gift: Salvation.
   * No matter what challenges we face, the biggest, most expensive gift we received was free: Jesus Christ.

Romans 6:23 ESV
23 For the wages of sin is death, but the free gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord.
    * This gift changes everything. When we truly grasp that we have been saved, we can't help but be deeply thankful. This overwhelming gratitude is the fuel for action.
III. Part 2: The Flow to Generosity
 * Point 1: Gratitude doesn't sit still—it moves.
   * When your heart is full of thanks, it can’t be closed off. It's like a running tap. Once it’s on, the water flows out.
   * The passage says we are "enriched in every way so that you can be generous on every occasion." God blesses us so that we can be a blessing.
 * Point 2: Generosity isn't just about money.
   * It's about our time, our kindness, our attention, and our resources.
   3 things i want you to work on having
     * A generous spirit: Speaking a kind word to someone who is down.
     * A generous heart: Stopping to listen to a neighbor who is lonely.
     * Generous resources: Sharing your meal, helping a charity, or supporting the church.

Proverbs 11:25 ESV
25 Whoever brings blessing will be enriched, and one who waters will himself be watered.
    “A generous person will prosper; whoever refreshes others will be refreshed.” (What you put out comes back to you.)

 * Point 3: The Example of the Early Church.
   * The people who first believed were so thankful for the gift of Jesus that they instantly became generous with each other.

Acts 4:32 ESV
32 Now the full number of those who believed were of one heart and soul, and no one said that any of the things that belonged to him was his own, but they had everything in common.
     > “All the believers were one in heart and mind. No one claimed that any of their possessions was their own, but they shared everything they had.” (They saw themselves as a team, sharing the blessings.)

IV. Conclusion: The Cycle of Blessing
  Look again at the end of our main passage
2 Corinthians 9:11–12 ESV
You will be enriched in every way to be generous in every way, which through us will produce thanksgiving to God. For the ministry of this service is not only supplying the needs of the saints but is also overflowing in many thanksgivings to God.
What is the result of our generosity?
  your generosity will result in thanksgiving to God... [it] is also overflowing in many expressions of thanks to God.”

 * The Beautiful Cycle:
   * God pours out a blessing on you (Gratitude).
   * You pour out that blessing to someone else (Generosity).
   * That person thanks God for what they received (More Thanksgiving).
   * Your gift creates a chain reaction of gratitude that goes all the way back up to God! This is why generosity matters so much.
 * Challenge/Application:
   * This week, take just one minute every morning to list three things you are truly grateful for.
   * Then, ask God: "Who can I share a blessing with today?" (A phone call, a friendly wave, a small donation, helping a friend.)
