A Prayer for 2026
Philippians 2:5-11
Pray that we would look like Christ.
· What do I need to let go to go where God wants me?
You cannot be filled with God’s purpose if your hands are full of old things.
Maybe it’s:
Fear of failure
A habit or hidden sin
Control
Comfort
A relationship you’ve elevated above God
A version of yourself you’re trying to protect
The need to be right
The pride that keeps you from surrender
Letting go is not loss—it is trust. Christ let go and the Father lifted Him up. You let go, and the Father will lead you forward.
· What role can I serve in that makes an eternal difference in the Kingdom?
Kingdom influence is not about position, it’s about posture.
The role that makes an eternal difference is almost always:
Humble
Hidden
People-focused
Consistent
Costly
Maybe for you it’s:
Discipling a younger believer
Serving next generation ministries
Leading a small group
Becoming a prayer warrior
Visiting the lonely
Evangelizing a coworker
Giving generously and consistently
Helping behind the scenes where no one sees but God
Whatever role you choose, choose it because it looks like Jesus— and it will make eternal impact.
· What is the first thing I need to be obedient to in January 2026?
Don’t ask God for the next ten steps. Ask Him for the next one.
Your first act of obedience might be:
Forgiving someone
Starting a discipline of prayer
Returning to church consistency
Joining a ministry team
Ending a compromise
Starting a Bible reading plan
Making a move God has been nudging you toward
Resting because you’ve been running ahead of God
Obedience is not dramatic—it is daily. And January obedience sets the tone for the entire year.
· Who can I pray for that might turn to God because of my influence?
Someone’s eternity might shift because you pray. Someone’s heart might soften because you show Christlike humility. Someone’s eyes might open because you serve them.
Ask God:
“Whose name do You want to write on my heart this year?”
Maybe it’s:
A neighbor
A coworker
A spouse or child
A classmate
A friend far from faith
Someone who hurt you
A person who thinks they’re too far gone
Write the name down. Begin praying now. Don’t underestimate the power of quiet, persistent, Christlike influence.
