Mark 8:22–26 “22 And they came to Bethsaida. And some people brought to him a blind man and begged him to touch him. 23 And he took the blind man by the hand and led him out of the village, and when he had spit on his eyes and laid his hands on him, he asked him, “Do you see anything?” 24 And he looked up and said, “I see people, but they look like trees, walking.” 25 Then Jesus laid his hands on his eyes again; and he opened his eyes, his sight was restored, and he saw everything clearly. 26 And he sent him to his home, saying, “Do not even enter the village.””
A process.
Who would you trust with your most prized possession? Your kids?
How did you get there with them?
Was it overnight?
The disciples needed to see that they needed a second touch. They had a preliminary blessing but there was more that Jesus was offering.
Why did Jesus tell him to not go back to the village?
Because it wasn’t time to reveal fully that He was the Messiah
Matthew 11:21–24 “21 “Woe to you, Chorazin! Woe to you, Bethsaida! For if the mighty works done in you had been done in Tyre and Sidon, they would have repented long ago in sackcloth and ashes. 22 But I tell you, it will be more bearable on the day of judgment for Tyre and Sidon than for you. 23 And you, Capernaum, will you be exalted to heaven? You will be brought down to Hades. For if the mighty works done in you had been done in Sodom, it would have remained until this day. 24 But I tell you that it will be more tolerable on the day of judgment for the land of Sodom than for you.””
Jesus had already done miraculous works in Bethsaida and they still didn’t believe.
