Introduction

My name is Patrick Fielder. If I haven’t met you yet, I wanted to take a moment to share a little about myself. I am married to Sydney, and we have a 3-year-old who is sick at home today, so that’s why Sydney isn’t here with me. Also, we are expecting our second baby in just a few weeks.
I serve with the Send Network, alongside Ryan, here in Georgia, as a church planting catalyst. Before that, I served as an associate pastor, college pastor, and student pastor. Now, I am serving at Gospel Hope as a resident and working with Young Adults.
I hope that you have enjoyed the food and fellowship tonight, and there is still more of that to come, but I just wanted to share a little about what the Young Adults ministry is and why I believe it matters.
First, the why.

The what.

I believe Young Adults are the best and sometimes the most under-utilized resource in our workforce for Kingdom work.
A Young adult ministry in a church is really a tool for accomplishing the great commission. Matthew 28:18–20 “And Jesus came and said to them, 'All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me. Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all that I have commanded you. And behold, I am with you always, to the end of the age.’”
Young adults are one of the most valuable resources in accomplishing the mission because of a few key things that others don’t necessarily have.
Freedom - Your commitments are often more flexible in this season of your life. This makes Young Adults who are equipped with the gospel a strong force for Kingdom impact.
Zeal - Young Adults are passionate and often are very willing to learn and grow, and to be utilized for the mission.
Community-Oriented - Having a community of believers around you is a big deal in the Christian life, and young adults thrive when having other brothers and sisters living life alongside you while on mission.
So, what I believe is a solid Young Adults ministry is one that maximizes these things.
At Gospel Hope, we exist to make disciples who are growing in the Gospel, as a Family, while on Mission. So, I hope to create a place where we can do just that and to maximize the strengths that you guys have for the sake of the mission.
A couple of things to look forward to:
First, next year, we will begin meeting on a weeknight to be determined (we are thinking Tuesday evenings). This will be a Gospel Hope Community group, but we will also have a monthly worship service for Young Adults.
We will also try to do a Young Adult Hang (I’m not great with names, so if you have a better idea, let me know), every other month, so about 6 times throughout the year. This could be something as simple as getting pizza after church, going bowling, or any other ideas that you may have.
The idea is that the young adults' ministry is a tool for us to accomplish the mission.

The why.

The mission is urgent.
The Church will not fail.
Matthew 16:15–18 “He said to them, “But who do you say that I am?” Simon Peter replied, “You are the Christ, the Son of the living God.” And Jesus answered him, “Blessed are you, Simon Bar-Jonah! For flesh and blood has not revealed this to you, but my Father who is in heaven. And I tell you, you are Peter, and on this rock I will build my church, and the gates of hell shall not prevail against it.”
We have a part to play.
Lets pray.
