Why would we ever not obey someone?

We’ve learned a lot about obedience this month, but we’ve only really talked about the times we need to obey. The Bible actually does tell us we should disobey at certain times.

29 But Peter and the other apostles answered and said: “We ought to obey God rather than men.

Peter and the apostles knew that there might be times when men will ask us to do something that is against what God tells us. When this happens, then we are to obey what God says in His Word and not what man tells us.

But what if someone older is telling you to do something wrong, should you obey them then?

Just because they are older does not mean that we have to obey them. God wants those older people in charge to make rules that are in line with His. When they tell you to do something that’s not godly, don’t do it!
