The King Has Come
Week 1: 12/07/25, The King Has Come To Bring Hope
Can you believe that it’s December, crazy.  Well before we get into our December Series, let’s have a couple jokes.
Jokes: According to my chocolate advent calendar, there are only three days until Christmas.
“Scientists have confirmed that there is only one fruitcake in existence.
It just keeps getting passed from family to family every year.”
This month, our Christmas month, were starting a new series called, The King Has Come, and thank God He has.  AMEN!
You know Church Family :
Jesus didn't enter the world just to be a moral example. He didn't enter the world to start a religious movement. He came into the world to save sinners like us, to be a sacrifice for sin that allowed us to be reconciled to God. And He fulfilled that purpose.
Thanks God that today we have a true King, a true Savior and His name is Jesus.
We church family have seen a great Light and His name is Jesus, the Light of the world.
John 8:12 (NKJV) 12 Then Jesus spoke to them again, saying, “I am the light of the world. He who follows Me shall not walk in darkness, but have the light of life.”
The Prophet Isaiah said it like this:
Isaiah 9:2 (NKJV) 2 The people who walked in darkness Have seen a great light; Those who dwelt in the land of the shadow of death, Upon them a light has shined.
I like how Zacharias said it in his amazing prophecy about his son John and Jesus who was to be born.
Luke 1:79 (NKJV) 79 To give light to those who sit in darkness and the shadow of death, To guide our feet into the way of peace.”
I can still remember when I walked in darkness, BC, but then I can still remember the day that I was born again, and that Church Family was a much better day.
John 1:4–5 (NKJV) 4 In Him was life, and the life was the light of men. 5 And the light shined in the darkness, and the darkness did not comprehend it. John 1:9 (NKJV) 9 That was the true Light which gives light to every man coming into the world.
Today, Let’s look at the Angel’s Gabriel’s announcement to Mary.
Luke 1:26–38 (NKJV) 26 Now in the sixth month the angel Gabriel was sent by God to a city of Galilee named Nazareth, 27 to a virgin betrothed to a man whose name was Joseph, of the house of David. The virgin’s name was Mary. 28 And having come in, the angel said to her, “Rejoice, highly favored one, the Lord is with you; blessed are you among women!” 29 But when she saw him, she was troubled at his saying, and considered what manner of greeting this was. 30 Then the angel said to her, “Do not be afraid, Mary, for you have found favor with God. 31 And behold, you will conceive in your womb and bring forth a Son, and shall call His name Jesus. 32 He will be great, and will be called the Son of the Highest; and the Lord God will give Him the throne of His father David. 33 And He will reign over the house of Jacob forever, and of His kingdom there will be no end.” 34 Then Mary said to the angel, “How can this be, since I do not know a man?” 35 And the angel answered and said to her, “The Holy Spirit will come upon you, and the power of the Highest will overshadow you; therefore, also, that Holy One who is to be born will be called the Son of God. 36 Now indeed, Elizabeth your relative has also conceived a son in her old age; and this is now the sixth month for her who was called barren. 37 For with God nothing will be impossible.” 38 Then Mary said, “Behold the maidservant of the Lord! Let it be to me according to your word.” And the angel departed from her.
Let’s look at some points about our King who brings us Hope.
Church Family:
 1. God’s Promises Never Fail
Luke 1:30–33 (NKJV) 30 Then the angel said to her, “Do not be afraid, Mary, for you have found favor with God. 31 And behold, you will conceive in your womb and bring forth a Son, and shall call His name Jesus. 32 He will be great, and will be called the Son of the Highest; and the Lord God will give Him the throne of His father David. 33 And He will reign over the house of Jacob forever, and of His kingdom there will be no end.”
We see how God gave this promise in Isa. 9:6-7.
Isaiah 9:6–7 (NKJV) 6 For unto us a Child is born, Unto us a Son is given; And the government will be upon His shoulder. And His name will be called Wonderful, Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace. 7 Of the increase of His government and peace There will be no end, Upon the throne of David and over His kingdom, To order it and establish it with judgment and justice From that time forward, even forever. The zeal of the Lord of hosts will perform this.

Like a child waiting eagerly for Christmas morning, Israel waited centuries for Messiah, and God kept His word.
“God’s promises are like the stars; the darker the night, the brighter they shine.” – D.L. Moody
2 Corinthians 1:20 (NKJV) 20 For all the promises of God in Him are Yes, and in Him Amen, to the glory of God through us.
2 Corinthians 1:20 (NLT) 20 For all of God’s promises have been fulfilled in Christ with a resounding “Yes!” And through Christ, our “Amen” (which means “Yes”) ascends to God for his glory.
2. Hope is Born in the most Unexpected Places.
Luke 1:26–27 (NKJV) 26 Now in the sixth month the angel Gabriel was sent by God to a city of Galilee named Nazareth, 27 to a virgin betrothed to a man whose name was Joseph, of the house of David. The virgin’s name was Mary.
Nazareth, a nothing town, but became the place of this amazing announcement.
Nazareth in the first century was a small village occupying only a ridge, with an area of 40,000 square meters that could potentially accommodate up to 2,000 people, though most estimates suggest a population of only 200–500 during Jesus’ time.
And then God would choose the smallest of town’s for His son to be born. Bethlehem
Micah 5:2 (NKJV) 2 “But you, Bethlehem Ephrathah, Though you are little among the thousands of Judah, Yet out of you shall come forth to Me The One to be Ruler in Israel, Whose goings forth are from of old, From everlasting.”
God often works through the “ordinary”, like a small gift that ends up being the most meaningful.
As the song goes,
O little town of Bethlehem How still we see thee lie Above thy deep and dreamless sleep, The silent stars go by.
Yet in thy dark streets shineth The everlasting Light The hopes and fears of all the
years, Are met in thee tonight.
Amen and Amen!
3. Mary Chose Faith Over Fear
Luke 1:38 (NKJV) 38 Then Mary said, “Behold the maidservant of the Lord! Let it be to me according to your word.” And the angel departed from her.
Church family, many times in this Faith life, we need to do what the Bible says:
2 Corinthians 5:7 (NKJV) 7 For we walk by faith, not by sight.
Christmas lights only work when plugged into the source, faith is plugging into God’s power.
4.  The King’s Reign Brings Hope To Every Circumstances.
Luke 1:31–33 (NKJV) 31 And behold, you will conceive in your womb and bring forth a Son, and shall call His name Jesus. 32 He will be great, and will be called the Son of the Highest; and the Lord God will give Him the throne of His father David. 33 And He will reign over the house of Jacob forever, and of His kingdom there will be no end.
Corrie ten Boom once said, “Never be afraid to trust an unknown future to a known God.”
Remember Church family:
Hebrews 13:8 (NKJV) 8 Jesus Christ is the same yesterday, today, and forever.
5.  Hope Is A Gift We Share:
Look at what the shepherds did.
Luke 2:17–18 (NKJV) 17 Now when they had seen Him, they made widely known the saying which was told them concerning this Child. 18 And all those who heard it marveled at those things which were told them by the shepherds.
Let’s not hold this Good New to ourselves, let’s share it with other’s.
80% of people say that they don’t go to church because no one invited them.
Let’s, EACH ONE, REACH ONE
When the light of Jesus illuminates our hearts and brightens our lives, we want to take the gospel to others too.
That’s the only thing that God has asked us to do. Go into all the world and share the Good News.
Hope is like a candle, when you light someone else’s candle, your flame doesn’t go out.
Romans 15:13 (NKJV) 13 Now may the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace in believing, that you may abound in hope by the power of the Holy Spirit.
Hope, Our Expectation Of Good.
6. Christmas Hope is Personal
Luke 1:31–33 (NKJV) 31 And behold, you will conceive in your womb and bring forth a Son, and shall call His name Jesus. 32 He will be great, and will be called the Son of the Highest; and the Lord God will give Him the throne of His father David. 33 And He will reign over the house of Jacob forever, and of His kingdom there will be no end.”
Jesus is OUR Savior, He is OUR Lord.  It’s so personal that He doesn’t call us servants, but friends.
John 15:15 (NKJV) 15 No longer do I call you servants, for a servant does not know what his master is doing; but I have called you friends, for all things that I heard from My Father I have made known to you.
I like how: Max Lucado – “God made you on purpose for a purpose.”
Galatians 2:20 (NKJV) 20 I have been crucified with Christ; it is no longer I who live, but Christ lives in me; and the life which I now live in the flesh I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me and gave Himself for me.
One last thing that I thought was amazing, The Greek word translated “highly favored” in Luke 1.28 is charitoo, and means “highly blessed” or “much graced.”
Luke 1:28 (NKJV) 28 And having come in, the angel said to her, “Rejoice, highly favored one, the Lord is with you; blessed are you among women!”
It is used only one other time in the Bible, not concerning Mary, but concerning you.
Ephesians 1:6 (NKJV) 6 to the praise of the glory of His grace, by which He made us accepted in the Beloved.
We are highly favored not because of who we are, but because of where we are. Where are we? We are in Christ (2 Corinthians 5:17).
2 Corinthians 5:17 (NKJV) 17 Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; old things have passed away; behold, all things have become new.
