C. The Believer’s Conversion (Part II): The Work of God’s Grace—Salvation, 2:8–10

(2:8–10) Introduction: this passage is one of the great evangelistic summaries of the Bible.“By grace alone, through faith alone, to God alone be the glory” If a man wants to be saved, these verses tell him how to be saved. Salvation is the work of God, of God’s grace and of God’s grace alone. It is not of man, not to any degree whatsoever.

⇒ Salvation is a free gift of God. It is by grace alone that man is saved. Man can do nothing whatsoever to save himself. He cannot earn, win, or merit salvation. All man can do is accept the fact that God says He will save him, accept as true the free offer of salvation (

Ephesians 2:4–5 “But God, being rich in mercy, because of His great love with which He loved us, even when we were dead in our transgressions, made us alive together with Christ (by grace you have been saved),”
