The World To Come

The preacher is going to continue to give us more reasons that Jesus is superior to the angels

some of the Israelites thought that Gabriel or Michael with other angels would be rulers in the millennial Kingdom

that is why we see here that this is not the case

we have already mentioned the Millennial Kingdom

this is what is refereed here in V 5

in Genesis 1 it speaks about Adam being the ruler of the world

Genesis 1:26–28 LSB

Then God said, “Let Us make man in Our image, according to Our likeness, so that they will have dominion over the fish of the sea and over the birds of the sky and over the cattle and over all the earth and over every creeping thing that creeps on the earth.” And God created man in His own image, in the image of God He created him; male and female He created them. God blessed them, and God said to them, “Be fruitful and multiply, and fill the earth, and subdue it; and have dominion over the fish of the sea and over the birds of the sky and over every living thing that creeps on the earth.”

God had made everything on this planet under the subjection of Adam

but Adam fell He sinned and lost his throne

so another had to come along to be this king.

we go now to Psalm 8 and see the Father speaking to the Son

this is where the preacher quotes Psalm 8 to the Son will be the second Adam and reign over all of creation

this is a prophecy in the future

the world to come

V 6

What is man? what is his destiny?

before Jesus died on the cross there was no hope Man was destined to hell

man was a fallen being destined to death

man is insignificant BUT Jesus the man will have rule over the universe

we as fallen man is insignificant but because of the sacrifice of Jesus on the cross we have been redeemed and brought into the family of God

to rule with Jesus

the Son of Man , God the Son was made to see death so we can be saved

V 7

because he died to save us the Father crowned Him as king

V 8, 9

Hebrews 7:25 LSB

Therefore He is able also to save forever those who draw near to God through Him, since He always lives to make intercession for them.

there are not any angels that will be crowned with glory

angels are what is considered a worker bee

oh yes much more powerful than you or I but still created to do specific tasks

so we see Adam losing the dominion that was given to him

we see the Psalms saying that Jesus will receive the kingship

lets go to Revelation where Jesus

Revelation 5

V 1-4

who is worthy?

we are all kneeling around the throne in heaven

the angel has the scroll/ the deed of the earth this scroll has 7 seals

break one unroll break the next to 7

but there was found no one worthy of all the men that came from the earth

so the Apostle John started to cry because the deed to the earth could not be opened

V 5

BUT

tribe of Judah the kingly tribe

Has overcome He has defeated death, satan, He has paid the redemptive price for His bride

root / or seed of David the promised king/ Messiah

Isaiah 9:6–7 LSB

For a child will be born to us, a son will be given to us; And the government will rest on His shoulders; And His name will be called Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Eternal Father, Prince of Peace. There will be no end to the increase of His government or of peace, On the throne of David and over his kingdom, To establish it and to uphold it with justice and righteousness From then on and forevermore. The zeal of Yahweh of hosts will accomplish this.

Jeremiah 23:5–6 LSB

“Behold, the days are coming,” declares Yahweh, “When I will raise up for David a righteous Branch; And He will reign as king and prosper And do justice and righteousness in the land. “In His days Judah will be saved, And Israel will dwell securely; And this is His name by which He will be called, ‘Yahweh our righteousness.’

and at that time we see the fulfilment what Paul said in

Ephesians 3:9–10 LSB

and to bring to light for all what is the administration of the mystery which for ages has been hidden in God who created all things; so that the manifold wisdom of God might now be made known through the church to the rulers and the authorities in the heavenly places.

V 6-8

The Lamb of God is worthy to open the deed to the earth

V 9 we will sing this song

V 10 Jesus has made us to be co-ruler with Him

we see later on in Revelation when the 7th seal is finished

Revelation 11:15 LSB

Then the seventh angel sounded, and there were loud voices in heaven, saying, “The kingdom of the world has become the kingdom of our Lord and of His Christ, and He will reign forever and ever.”

V 11 -14

isn’t this the culmination of

Hebrews 2:8 LSB

You have put all things in subjection under his feet.” For in subjecting all things to him, He left nothing that is not subject to him. But now we do not yet see all things subjected to him.

GENESIS THROUGH REVELATION tell us of the Kingdom that will be a kingdom of love and peace

a Kingdom where Jesus will rule and reign with justice

where we will see and participate with Jesus

because of His grace and mercy to us undeserving people
