Central Idea:
God calls His people to live with a spiritual vision shaped by His word, guiding them beyond present circumstances and toward faithful obedience.
INTRODUCTION
Every generation must decide how it will see the world—through the lens of temporary concerns or through the eternal vision God provides.
Scripture teaches that without divine vision, people lose direction, purpose, and holiness.
But when God’s word shapes our outlook, we walk in clarity, conviction, and confident hope.

1. The Peril of Lacking Vision

Proverbs 29:18 NIV
Where there is no revelation, people cast off restraint; but blessed is the one who heeds wisdom’s instruction.
Proverbs 29:18 ESV
Where there is no prophetic vision the people cast off restraint, but blessed is he who keeps the law.
Proverbs 29:18 KJV 1900
Where there is no vision, the people perish: But he that keepeth the law, happy is he.
Need to Understanding "Perish":
Hosea 4:6 ESV
My people are destroyed for lack of knowledge; because you have rejected knowledge, I reject you from being a priest to me. And since you have forgotten the law of your God, I also will forget your children.
Examples of Lacking Vision:
Individual Stagnation:
James 4:14 ESV
yet you do not know what tomorrow will bring. What is your life? For you are a mist that appears for a little time and then vanishes.
Community Decline: A church or community without a shared, God-given vision can lose its focus, leading to disunity and ineffectiveness.
Colossians 3:1–2 ESV
If then you have been raised with Christ, seek the things that are above, where Christ is, seated at the right hand of God. Set your minds on things that are above, not on things that are on earth.

2. The Power of a Prophetic Vision

Proverbs 29:18b: "...but he that keepeth the law, happy is he."

“Prophetic Vision" Defined:
Refers to a vision grounded in God's revealed will, His law, and His promises, rather than human ambition. It's about seeing life through God's eyes.
Adherence to God's word provides the framework and content for this vision.
It’s not about legalism, but about living according to divine principles that lead to true happiness and flourishing.
Philippians 4:6–7 ESV
do not be anxious about anything, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God. And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.

3. Living with an Eternal Vision

Ask yourself why this may be difficult for you to do
Matthew 6:33 ESV
But seek first the kingdom of God and his righteousness, and all these things will be added to you.
Romans 8:28 ESV
And we know that for those who love God all things work together for good, for those who are called according to his purpose.
Titus 2:13 ESV
waiting for our blessed hope, the appearing of the glory of our great God and Savior Jesus Christ,
