John 14 :1

John 14:1 “1 “Do not let your heart be troubled; believe in God, believe also in Me.”
How do we connect or seek to the rich and famous?
Jesus in conversations with His disciples before His passion comforts them Saying:
1 “Do not let your heart be troubled; believe in God, believe also in Me.
This is on the background of announcing His death - that they be assured it won’t end in the grave.
A call to understand there’s a place for them, he’s going to prepare for them in heaven.
And If understanding was going to be difficult the Holy Spirit will explain when He comes. So there’s no place for being troubled especially in their heart-
Jesus comforts and reassures His disciples in several instances :
John 14:27 “27 “Peace I leave with you; My peace I give to you; not as the world gives do I give to you. Do not let your heart be troubled, nor let it be fearful.”
John 16:22–24 “22 “Therefore you too have grief now; but I will see you again, and your heart will rejoice, and no one will take your joy away from you. 23 “In that day you will not question Me about anything. Truly, truly, I say to you, if you ask the Father for anything in My name, He will give it to you. 24 “Until now you have asked for nothing in My name; ask and you will receive, so that your joy may be made full.”
One central theme Jesus showed concern for His disciples was their heart condition.
To not let their heart troubled
But to Believe in God
And also Believe in Him

The heart Condition -

When it’s troubled - Proverbs 12:25 “25 Anxiety in a man’s heart weighs it down, But a good word makes it glad.”
Proverbs 27:19 “19 As in water face reflects face, So the heart of man reflects man.”
Proverbs 4:23 “23 Watch over your heart with all diligence, For from it flow the springs of life.”
Luke 6:45 “45 “The good man out of the good treasure of his heart brings forth what is good; and the evil man out of the evil treasure brings forth what is evil; for his mouth speaks from that which fills his heart.”
What is your heart condition?
Romans 10:8–10 “8 But what does it say? “The word is near you, in your mouth and in your heart”—that is, the word of faith which we are preaching, 9 that if you confess with your mouth Jesus as Lord, and believe in your heart that God raised Him from the dead, you will be saved; 10 for with the heart a person believes, resulting in righteousness, and with the mouth he confesses, resulting in salvation.”
Believe in God -
The Jews did not have a problem believing God
They claim their heritage from Abraham
And they abide by the laws of Moses
The difficulty was believing Jesus as the son of God which means being equal with God
The carpenter’s son
From Galilee where nothing come’s from
They could not accept Him as Messiah because no one would no where the Messiah will com from

Believe in Me - Believe in Jesus

To believe in Jesus is to have faith in Him
Accept Him as the Son of God
to believe (trust) v. — to have faith; put one’s trust in something; think to be true, to believe, implying trust1
1 James Swanson, Dictionary of Biblical Languages with Semantic Domains: Greek (New Testament) (Oak Harbor: Logos Research Systems, Inc., 1997).
To believe in Jesus therefore is to have faith in Him, trust Him to be true.
The He is the Son of God
That He came in the flesh, He was born- Virgin birth
That He died
That He rose from the dead
Our Christian creed.

Jesus calls His disciples and by extension all of us to have faith in God and also in Him.

Because without faith our relationship with God won’t be pleasing
Hebrews 11:6 “6 And without faith it is impossible to please Him, for he who comes to God must believe that He is and that He is a rewarder of those who seek Him.”
Faith/believe is essential in our walk with God.
If we don’t walk in faith we cannot please Him
When we come to Him wether to church or in our prayer or at anytime we call on Him, we must do that in faith, in a firm assurance and believe that He is (exists) and He rewards all who seek Him (diligently)
Matthew 6:33 “33 “But seek first His kingdom and His righteousness, and all these things will be added to you.”
Hebrews 11:1 “1 Now faith is the assurance of things hoped for, the conviction of things not seen.”

Faith (grk. pistis) is strong confidence and reliance on something or someone

The example of the 3 Heb boys
Daniel 3:16–18 “16 Shadrach, Meshach and Abed-nego replied to the king, “O Nebuchadnezzar, we do not need to give you an answer concerning this matter. 17 “If it be so, our God whom we serve is able to deliver us from the furnace of blazing fire; and He will deliver us out of your hand, O king. 18 “But even if He does not, let it be known to you, O king, that we are not going to serve your gods or worship the golden image that you have set up.””
Daniel 3:25 “25 He said, “Look! I see four men loosed and walking about in the midst of the fire without harm, and the appearance of the fourth is like a son of the gods!””
Daniel 3:30 “30 Then the king caused Shadrach, Meshach and Abed-nego to prosper in the province of Babylon.”
As we walk in this life of faith all shades of events will rise but God assures us He will never leave us nor forsake us. All we need to do is to remain in the assurance of our firm believe and faith in Him.

Why our faith in Jesus is important:

It is by our faith and believe in Jesus that we become children of God

John 1:11–12 “11 He came to His own, and those who were His own did not receive Him. 12 But as many as received Him, to them He gave the right to become children of God, even to those who believe in His name,”
Another greek translation of believe is to accept. that is why we accept Him as Lord and Savior meaning we believe in Him as our Lord and Savior.

Our peace is in Him and He has overcome the world

John 16:33 “33 “These things I have spoken to you, so that in Me you may have peace. In the world you have tribulation, but take courage; I have overcome the world.””

Our Victory is in Him

Revelation 12:11 “11 “And they overcame him because of the blood of the Lamb and because of the word of their testimony, and they did not love their life even when faced with death.”
Testimony: verbal evidence that something is true
Reputation
Hebrews 9:12–14 “12 and not through the blood of goats and calves, but through His own blood, He entered the holy place once for all, having obtained eternal redemption. 13 For if the blood of goats and bulls and the ashes of a heifer sprinkling those who have been defiled sanctify for the cleansing of the flesh, 14 how much more will the blood of Christ, who through the eternal Spirit offered Himself without blemish to God, cleanse your conscience from dead works to serve the living God?”
The blood speaks - the blood of Jesus speaks better things
Hebrews 12:24 “24 and to Jesus, the mediator of a new covenant, and to the sprinkled blood, which speaks better than the blood of Abel.”
His blood will speak for you
His blood will speak better things for you
By His blood you overcome!
When you have faith in Jesus, He redeems you by His blood
Just believe in Jesus!
We need to have faith in Jesus who is the Way the Truth and the Life by whom we get to the Father and become children of God
We need to have faith in Him who is our peace and has overcome the world
We need to have faith in Jesus who has given us victory over satan and through His blood has redeemed us and granted us eternal redemption to serve God.
